Will give myself a darwin for this one. Was in a rush, so got the guys in a supermarket carpark to wash my car. for what it's worth they may as well have massaged grit into the body work (see below).

So, need a reputable detailer in the south bucks area. Any suggestions?

Any bodywork garage can get that panel resprayed. I would send it's car to jaguar and the invoice to the supermarket.

Any retraining of your own senses is probably payable by you. Bad luck.

I wish it was just one panel, it's the majority of the car! Jag bodyshop have quoted £250 + vat, to polish it. Job for spring perhaps. Stupid mistake.

Contact your local detailer. They might be able to sort that much cheaper.

If you are in a South Bucks contact my mate Paul Townsend, tell him MOz sent you and he'll advise what's possible.

He's one of the best in the country so caution, he might not be cheap!

https://autocurators.com

<edited><editID>MOz</editID><editDate>2016-12-12 16:42:52</editDate></edited>

I do feel sorry for you - at least you know your mistake.

Loads of people have it done every week - its crazy.

I'd definitely try and take it further with the supermarket.

I wouldn't take a rusty fiesta near them, let alone the Jag.

I've seen it at a supermarket in Notts. They don't even have runnng water, just water from a bucket on their trolley. - and people are still daft enough to let them wash their cars. Just as bad as someone down our lane I saw using a bucket of soapy water and a yard brush. I don't let anyone but me wash my cars.

They use plastic swipers to remove the water which creates large swirls on paintwork!

Hope you get it polished out ok.

Scoobydoo

it wont be cheap.

you will need at least a day's worth of paint correction - £250 to £400 at a guess.

probably more a job for a really skilled detailer than a body shop.

mine is in now for a full detailing and a protective finish but cost is pretty high.

I would recommend getting a good detailer to machine polish it and see what can be done. By the looks of it most of it seems to be clearcoat scratches so might be able to get it sorted. But yes you'll be a decent amount of money getting it sorted. I would also recommend getting a ceramic coating or paint protection film afterwards.

Doing the old Christmas shopping routine yesterday at the Metro Centre. They have car wash guys at the multi storey car park. I was horrified to see a bundle of used and folded micofibre cloths lying on the ground waiting for the next customer. Totally unacceptable even if they said the cloths were for the wheels. I was temped to take a photo but thought better of it (for my own personal safety).
No one touches my paintwork - and as been said elsewhere - even the dealer is instructed not to wash the car.

I had the same done to my IRR (Gtechniq Crystal Serum and EXO) one and a half year ago, and it looks just as good after a wash (sometimes with a "quick detailer" sprayed on before drying) now as it did then.

Fantastic stuff - and your car looks great!

I love detailing, but I don't understand why you guys don't PPF your pride and joys!?

P.S - Great depth of shine...try keeping it like that

Now that's a case of vandalism if ever I saw one, really awful. I think however if you have the time I would be tempted to go shopping for the best detailing products and have a go myself, it would be very rewarding. If you couldn't get the required results you could always give it to a detailer afterwards.
Timlaw, that looks beautiful. I would be very happy with that, bet you don't want to take it out and get it dirty!
Steve.
