Windscreen replacement

A stone chucked up from a car coming the opposite direction smacked into my F-Type windscreen yesterday causing a “bullseye” crack.
My insurer (Admiral) use Autoglass.
Now if it was my VW Polo I’d have no problem with that, but the F-Type? (Blue metallic UV coating, matrix headlights sensor, lane keeping sensor, automatic wipers sensor, heated screen, etc)
Surely fellow F-Type drivers have had a cracked windscreen - what to do? Go with Autoglass? The car is booked in for a minor warranty job at the beginning of April at my Jag dealership - should I get it replaced by them? Do they claim via my insurance like Autoglass do?

I've had no problem with Autoglass. WIth Merc admittedly, they sent me to local fitting centre. Merc windscreen.,heated etc and they re-align all the necessary sensors - lane, auto headlights, wipers etc.

Thanks guys. That’s helpful. I’ll go with Autoglass then but I will ask them if they could fit a genuine Jaguar screen because of the car it is. Will need replacement rather than repair because the bullseye is about the size of a 50p piece and is near the edge of the screen at the top on passenger side within the wiper arc.

Great. Thanks for the reassurance M42TYN. I’ll go with Autoglass, but will ask them to fit a genuine Jag screen. Is M42TYN your reg plate? If so, that’s a really good one!

I'm not convinced anyone makes aftermarket screens for the F-Type as it's such a low volume (in terms of sales, not noise!) car. Corrections to that belief welcome from those who know.

I had a screen replaced last year, it was a Fuyao screen, when I questioned it, the fitting guy pointed out that my side windows were also Fuyao branded, so it came from factory with Fuyao branded side windows

So I booked an appointment online with Autoglass via the Admiral Insurance website and paid my £112 excess for windscreen replacement. An Autoglass “rare car advisor” phoned me within an hour to let me know that they will be ordering a genuine Jaguar screen to exactly the same manufacturer specifications from Pilkington Glass and it might take a few weeks because it’s not an “off the shelf” windscreen. So they cancelled the appointment I had booked online and I’m waiting for
them to call me again when the screen is manufactured and delivered ready to be fitted. I was told that I will also need to travel a bit further to one of their main workshops too (not a big deal - who doesn’t like driving their F-Type a bit further!) where they will have the necessary calibration equipment for the sensors for the matrix LED headlights, lane assist, cruise control, collision avoidance system, etc and it will take a morning or afternoon to do it, not just the usual hour appointment. Not a standard quick windscreen job!

I think it was a chunk of road thrown up from a car going over a pothole coming in the opposite direction on the other side of a National Speed limit A-road. Made a massive bang which made me nearly jump out of my skin! I guess fortunate to have hit the relatively easily replaceable windscreen rather than anywhere else on the F-Type. Amazing how strong modern windscreens are actually!
