So chaps, <div><br></div><div>I have a questions, does anybody know if the V8S convertible and the V6S convertible have the same lower side mouldings ? we know that the V8S have the black finishing panels on the bottom, but are these just add ons to the side mouldings ? or are the V8S side mouldings different to the V6S ?</div><div><br></div><div>I have the part numbers for the finishing panels;</div><div><p ="Msonormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; : rgb241, 241, 241; -: initial initial; -repeat: initial initial;">LH Sill :

I have no idea and I guess the dealer getting them will be the acid test.<br /><br />I'd be very interested to see how you get in Jamie as I was thinking about these extensions for my v6 conv too.<br /><br />How much are they? I'd probably fit them myself.

Hi Jamie,<br /><br />I would be very surprised if they didn't fit as I cannot see why the pressing of the bodywork would be any different for a V8 versus a V6. As we know, the engines are broadly similar and the cost of tooling up to press different panels would be huge given that the sides are formed from a single sheet of aluminium. My best guess would be that they will fit fine and the fact that your dealer has ordered them in would indicate that they think so too. Be very interested to hear how you get along with them. Presumably there will be a fitting kit with them or is that a separate order?<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br /><br />Scoobydoo

I will get to see them on Friday, so will keep you updated, regarding price they are £165 each plus the VAT<div>Speak soon</div><div>Jamie</div>

Hi folks.<br />I had cause to speak to a Jaguar approved bodyshop in the Bristol area about these because I wanted to find out how to remove mine in order to wrap them in a different colour. They are fixed with a mixture of bolts & rivets and are apparently a bit fussy to do. Other than that they are a common part across the range (so I'm advised). Worth going for at the price though as they really complement the lines of the car. I eventually didn't bother to take mine off because I can't seem to leave the thing alone long enough without wanting to get in it & just drive!

OK Guys an update, went to see the side finishing panels at my local dealer, who as explained was kind enough to get a pair in for inspection. The straight answer is that they will <u>not</u> fit, as Drat explains above they are held by a combination of rivets and bolts and they are required to have an insert available within the the side painted moldings on the car, so the only way to fit them is to purchase the lower painted body moldings that run from the front wheel to the rear quarter panel, and these are only available in primer finish so they would have to be painted and then the existing panel removed and the new ones fitted complete with the finisher panels. Estimated cost £2500, however the worst part would be letting some monkey pull your car to pieces and then another monkey trying to match the colour, as we all know how good bodyshops are at colour match, not !<div><br></div><div>So sorry for the bad news, as I know there were a few of us out there with hope that this might be a straight forward fit, sadly not <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" /></div><div><br></div><div>Best Regards</div><div>Jamie</div>

Hi Jamie,<br /><br />Many thanks for updating us. I apologise unreservedly for assuming they would use the same panels when,clearly, they don't. <br /><br />Regards.<br /><br />Paul

Don't worry Paul, I had the same thoughts and was really disappointed to find that they are different !<div>Jamie</div>

do you know if it is possible to fit the side sills from a f type 4wd to the 2wd i have inserted a photo of the 4wd side sill which are deeper<br><br>Thanks<br><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/727/2016_Jaguar_F-TYPE_2dr_Convertible_30L_6cyl_SC_6M_5716507.jpg" height="466" width="700" border="0" /><br>

Best thing to do is check with your dealers parts department, as when I investigated it there were quite a lot of different parts required and they varied from model to model, best of luck !!<div><br></div>

Looks the same size as the standard design pack cills to me. Getting photos of my newly fitted cills in gloss black tomorrow hopefully! 👍<br /><br />So, if you mean the cills from the design pack which they look like to me, then yes you can get them, but I think they may only be available as part of the full pack if going genuine jaguar parts. The design pack is a £1500 optional extra when new and consists of front splitter, extended side cills and gloss black rear with colour coded venturi which wraps around the exhaust. If you get it fitted after market I originally got quoted around £3k for the kit Inc fitting, but I wangled a good deal on my pack when buying the used car. The front splitter was already gloss black as part of the black pack so just got the side cills and rear work done. I've gone a bit different than standard though, my car is white and nice gone for the design pack in gloss black (not colour coded). There is a thread on the design pack in the main forum.<br /><br />Hope this helps?<edited><editID>Carl</editID><editDate>2016-02-23 20:28:23</editDate></edited>

yes the 16MY wider Sports Design Pack sills (as pictured above) are retrofittable to a car with the previous extended side mouldings <div><br></div><div>As explained in this thread, it seems if you have no side mouldings in the first place, this is not possible.</div><div><br></div><div>I however, for my 15MY R, swapped to the 16MY Sports Design Pack sills </div>

Interesting, so my MY15 V6S will have a narrower cill as part of the design pack fitted than in the photo in this thread?

I think that is what V8FTW is suggeting above?...Id just like confirmation. Not saying that I will even if possible because Im happy with the look of it in the photos....handy to know for potential future mods!<br><br>Thanks, and apologies for any confusion in my previous replies!<br>

<div><br></div><div>Did you do this job yourself?</div><div><br></div><div>I hear it is a nightmare, not too difficult to release the rocker panel that the aero sill is bolted too, but the tread plate on the door is glued I believe, and you have to wreck it and remove before you can get the clearance upwards to actually unhook the fasteners in the rear wheel area to drop the rocker panel off.</div><div><br></div><div>I have the service manual here, and it is relatively straight forward, or so it appears; two rivets have to be drilled out that hold a small stone guard fore`rd of the rear wheel, then it's all Torx to remove the rocker then once this is clear of the car, the aero sill can be removed. The drawings don't show the tread plate conveniently!</div>
