White Car - Black Wheels?

I know subjective but after thoughts on fitting gloss black wheels to a white car?

Have heard some say it looks odd, as if there's a hole where the wheel should be!

Over winter the wheels are being removed, tyres too, to either be repainted in chrome or gloss black.

Interested in opinions?

TIA

Black wheels are just so much better on ALL colours :)

I believe Alisdair has black wheels on his white F :)

My personal opinion is that all dark colours look better with chrome trim and silver wheels.

All light colours look better with black trim and black wheels.

Exception being diamond cut wheels as they look good on both.

So a definite thumbs up from me for black wheels on your white F-type, but if you've not already got the black pack I'd suggest you get the trim, vents, etc done in black too at the same time.

I prefer matt black wheels to gloss black.

Well my car came white with black wheels and looks pretty awesome, but then that's just a personal opinion. In truth I'm not usually a great fan of white cars but I think the F - Type looks spectacular in white, maybe that's why they chose w white one for the launch video ? All I would say is I'm finding the black wheels are a bit of a nightmare to keep clean and as of yet I am still to find a wheel cleaning product that is specifically designed for black wheels i.e. something with a bit of black in it would help - most polishes are white - doh ! I attach a picture of my car so see what you think !!

Agree wholeheartedly with your 'spectacular in white' comment and have to admit, the black wheels look good also, particularly with the silver bolt heads and red centre caps :)

Agree that car looks awesome! Only reason we didn't go with a white F-type is that our last two cars were white.

Also agree with wanner on the ceramic coating. I've got Gtechniq C5 on my wheels. It's easy to apply and is amazing. The brake dust just slides off!

Highly subjective and each owner should go with what they like, not what others say is right or wrong. I'm pretty sure I could find any combo and find a car that looks great with it

That said my personal opinions are:
I'm generally against gloss black wheels. Overdone and now looks dated in most cases
It is however dependant upon the 'look' that is created, so the answer will be different if you have chrome or black trim, stealth, race, or sophisticated, style, etc. The white above works because it has black trim

I prefer variations neither black nor silver including darker grey gunmetal (although sometimes that's a light these days)
Here's my XF as an alternative to black or silver

And just to prove that I can challenge with my own preferences - my F type with largely black wheels, albeit lifted with diamond cut and CF inserts :)

Whilst I don't dislike black wheels, I do dislike gloss.
Mine are gloss black, and will shortly be repainted in a satin platinum

I had a white Boxster Spyder that came with black wheels, had them done satin platinum and found it works very well on white cars.
(How do I post a pic?!)

Thank you for your posts, especially the pictures of your beautiful cars 😄 I've had my car 'black packed' with the replacement side vents & window surrounds. Seems a logical step to do same with the wheels.

A top detailer I'm hoping to use (White Details) had a Colbaltish Blue Porsche in when I went for a quote. The Porsche had Matt Black wheels & they did look good.

Plenty to consider. Thanks again everyone 👍

Mine came with black/polished Orbits ... And yes, I know it's not white, but the first thing I did was have them refinished in anthracite and polished .... I then sealed them to protect the new finish.

Being grey they look cleaner for longer, being sealed they are easy enough to clean, and finally, for me anyway, black has moved with red calipers to the Nova and Fiesta's as evidenced by my neighbours son who this evening had the wheels of his Clio and sprayed them gloss black ... Having painted the calipers red at the weekend :?

My wife has a white Tiguan with bright silver wheels .. It looks so right. My daughter has a white 500x which came with grey/polished alloys and this also looks good. The point is it doesn't matter what the combo is so long as it works for you as its your car, nobody else's!

If you can keep them spotless, go with what you have planned for the car ... and of course you can always change them if you want too ....

I do love the Orbits, they look so right on the F Type....but I guess I am a bit biased :D

I've said it before and I know I'm biased but I wouldn't have anything other than black wheels ;)
