Which Stoplock recommended for the FType

I have been using a disklok for about 5 months without any issues. You can purchase a cover for the steering wheel to prevent any damage. I keep it in the boot when not in use and the bag is fixed with Velcro to stop any slide and noise from any movement. Pictures below. It is a good visible deterrent and as others have said these are very difficult to get off and takes time which could be invaluable.

The ‘disklok’ (shown above) is another good steering wheel lock......only thing is it’s very bulky. If it’s blowing a gale and pouring down with rain etc, you’d have a soaking when getting out of the car to store it inside the bag in the boot and vice versa. I don’t have that issue with the Milenco steering wheel lock.

I went with the Milenco in the end. What swayed it for me was the large bend in the Elite Pro would mean storing in the boot. The Milenco is mostly in line and I’m hoping it may slot behind the passenger seat or if not down the side of the seat.
The new version also comes with large pads which spread the point the bar touches the wheel. It also comes with a storage bag.
Should be here Saturday so we will see

The Milenco is a good solid steering wheel lock. Let us know where you end up storing it when not in use.......I find the side of the passenger footwell works great.

I fit my Disklok upside down, makes it a bit more awkward if thief trys to get in car, plus the arm hits the leg or door if tried to turn the wheel.

Ok, the Milenco steering wheel lock turned up today.
Seems substantial but not overly heavy.
Fitment is quick and easy and the plus version I went for has protective pads to stop the leather marring and a storage bag.
For best results turn the wheel 90Deg to fit around one spoke. In reality the front wheel attitude is only just poking out from the wheel well.
There is no issue using the lock like this with the auto adjust select for the steering wheel. It clears all cockpit components when it moves up and down.
Once removed and place into the supplied bag the comes with the plus version it hangs conveniently from a bag hanging strap on the hook behind the passenger seat (I haven’t moved the seat to hang it, this was the seat position the missus prefers)
I went for the yellow version, it’s there as a deterrent not to blend into the background. Plus the yellow matches the 400 stitching😁
I got it from eBay at a penny under £80 incl shipping. Halfords say they stock it (£60) but not with the protective pads or convenient storage bag. I understand you can buy these items direct from the Milenco website
Conclusions
Good item, no guarantees tealeafs will be put off if it’s installed. However, with the Tracker, Guardian Mode, Double locking, soon to be fitted nextbase dash cam, house CCTV and a steering lock I have made all reasonable efforts to ensure my car is secure
The Stoplock Pro Elite is also a good unit but loose on the wheel (but still secure). At £20 cheaper it’s a good alternative but won’t stow behind the seat as easily as the Milenco

The Milenco weighs in at approx 2.3kg (just over 5lbs) so it’s a fair lump of metal which could also be handy for clobbering a carjacker etc!

I’m always careful when fitting or removing it (easy to do) as I wouldn’t like to drop it onto the steering wheel or centre console etc. I’ve been using mine for over two years and it hasn’t caused any marks or damage to the leather on the steering wheel.

I notice that you’ve locked it around the steering wheel spoke which has the buttons and gear shift paddle behind. I haven’t done this as it’s a very tight fit (almost forced) which could damage the paddle etc. I use the bottom spoke instead.

If you have seat memory, it’s worth checking all the memorised settings to ensure the seat doesn’t go back far enough to force itself against the Milenco which you are hanging on the hook behind when not in use (I’d remove it before doing so). Also, as it’s partially covering the speaker system behind the seat, I’m wondering if the sound quality may be affected? There again, I doubt that Jaguar would have put a hook there in the first place if that was the case.

Not sure if your home CCTV includes spotlights? Mine doesn’t but I have a separate halogen PIR light (installed high up) which is a very good deterrent.

As they say......prevention is better than cure.
