Which Jaguar Warranty

As above. Depends on how you use car & suppose your appetite for risk.

Car only driven, carefully, on sunny weekends. Now at 26k miles. Never considered warranty, just keep money aside in case.

However, if I daily drove, would certainly have warranty 👍

It's a good point. Mileage about 7k a year, not a daily and not a crazy driver. Do drive in wet though.

I guess another aspect is whether, in extemis, you could actually pay for a very big bill, or if you need the warranty becuase you simply would not have the cash for the repair.

I got the first year's warranty for free. Hadn't really thought about this annual warranty cost thereafter, ...kind of puts me off continuing to own the car when added to services costs, insurance tax etc. it's nudging ÂŁ3k a year. So its either chance it with no warranty or sell the car.

I am due to renew warranty in January and no doubt will have the offer from Jag very soon.

The car is an SVR and will be 6 years old in January. I've purchased Jag extended warranty every year after the 3 years standard warranty

The only warranty work I've had has all been electronic and bodywork and all carried out within the 3 years manufacturers warranty.

I do around 2K miles a year - it really is a weekend type car.

I'm tempted not to renew for the first time - has anyone ditched warranty?

I renewed once on my MY18 and didn't bother after that - Jags are more reliable than people think, and I've found a very good independent I trust to keep it running at a reasoable cost. Warranties are for peace of mind, and depends on how much you're prepared to pay for that peace. Nothing's gone wrong with mine so far (hope I'm not tempting fate!) - it had a leaky diff seal early on which was fixed under the initial 3 year warranty. BTW, Americans get a 5 year warranty!

Likewise to scm, I renewed it the first year as due to Covid I hadn't done much mileage in it so was still getting confidence in it, I also do lesser miles a year and tend to SORN it over winter, so as the 2nd year came in 25% higher, I've decided not to renew.

It is about knowing where you can trust to take it, I havent really sorted that one out, 1 place I tried says they are a Jag specialist on the List on here, but when I went there, there was not a Jag in site and it all felt a bit impersonal!

Just had the mail about all the InControl subscriptions running out too, seems pointless having all those too, certainly whiled SORNed!

I use mine all year round and use remote start and journey information a lot so I'd renew that.

On the other hand, I keep going with the extended warranty and had a diff and a headlamp washer fitted last year. I'm probably slightly in credit overall.

Can I ask what the headlamp washer was for? I've got condensation on my front headlamps - would that be covered under Jag extended warranty?

I should add it doesnt affect the headlamp beam and i only notice when cleaning the car

Jaguars have a history of condensation in the headlights (from XK8, to my knowledge) and TSBs state that some condensation is "normal" - the headlight is only replaced in extreme cases. So worth asking the dealer, but expect to be disappointed.

Finally had my JLR warranty renewal through and it's a 20% hike up to ÂŁ1152 so think will not renew this year as can't see the justification for a 20% hike on a car I only do around 2.5K miles per year

EDIT!!

Think I have changed my mind - Warranty expires on 23rd February and last week had the dreaded centre air vent stuck in the up position and then would only close partially. (all settings were fine BTW). Left the car and went back and vent was shut.

Since then did it a couple of times but has not missed a beat since Friday and working fine. Interesting that the fault occured whilst i think it was in the middle of an incontrol software update - not sure if connected.

Anyway it's spooked me sufficiently enough to consider renewal now. I don't think this issue is covered under select extended warranty so might have to renew full blown extended.

I'd take it in before 23rd but if it's working fine now not sure what they will find anyway and with no courtesy car available until march it's a hike for me to get it to a stealer
