Which Jaguar Warranty

Do most people here go for the standard or select extended warranty? As far as I can see the only difference is the 3k claim limit with the select warranty

Apart from the obvious of major engine work, what other issues could be more than 3k? Has anyone had a replacement engine under warranty?

I suppose I should just bite the bullet and go for the full warranty but a donation to her majesty this morning is smarting a bit 😟

Who knows what the future holds, but I was glad to go for the full warranty when it covered a replacement engine at £15k.
Extreme example of course, but it’s also covered a water pump, Y pipe under the supercharger, rising centre vent, supercharger snout, and 3x injector failures.
I’m not usually one for taking out warranties but, having experience JLR “quality” with an early XE I’m glad I didn’t gamble.

Well now you mention it scm, that’s a better way of looking at it yes 😬
Apologies if I single-handedly forced JLR to ditch their 2 year warranty on used approved cars!

Well that has well and truly pissed me off. Phoned to renew because I have changed the plate and they want £100 more than they quoted by post which I suspect is them trying to recover part of the cost of the air vent fix which went through after the renewal quote. I'm tempted to look at the RAC warranty, has anyone had a good experience with it? We have a good Independent in Swindon so not sure that I really need the ridiculous dealer hourly rates to be covered.

Sorry to hear that.
I’ve got the RAC platinum warranty and I’ve got to say it appears to cover catastrophic failure in the main such as engine, gearbox, diff and some other mechanical and electrical pieces but everything else is excluded. I certainly wouldn’t have paid for it but I negotiated it when purchasing the car.

Might be worth checking the t&c’s to see if you’re comfortable with the level of cover vs the Jag warranty

Have a look at Warrantywise (Quentin Wilson’s creation). I had a quote from them of £2100 which covered me for 38 months. £10k single claim limit, unlimited claims, seems to cover most things and very surprisingly covered some wear and tear items such as brake discs. The other important factor to bear in mind is labour rates. A lot of the quotes I’ve had were looking promising until you find out that they only pay up to £60 (eg) an hour labour…. My dealer is £180 an hour! Warrantywise will cover up to £200 an hour. The plans they have online are only an indication of what is on offer, I got a call back from them after ditching my quote mid way as I didn’t think it was going to be any good. But, because our cars are ‘specialist’ and often lower miles, they open up other parts of their plan for us. I haven’t committed to their plan yet (as I’m not due till Mar) but my slight concern with them is some negative reviews online. The major review sites seem pretty reasonable but there’s one online that seems to slate them. Interested to hear from anyone on here that’s also with them and can give some lived experience?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've got a question regarding Jaguars warranty as I've still got my warranty cover from when I purchased the car last year. My situation is that one of the rear license plate lights has suddenly died and it looked like there was a slight haze in the light itself. Condensation maybe with the sudden turn of the weather? I've found old threads saying they were replaced under warranty but what manufacturers will and won't cover under warranty changes a lot.

Would this be replaceable under warranty?

A cheap and easy fix.

In the end I just hit the bullet and went for the full Jaguar Warranty. The RAC just had to many bad reviews in which every failure seems to be classified as wear an tear. Warrantywise suspiciously have a lot of reviews that praise how helpful they are when you buy the warranty but not so many on claiming, especially for anything significant.

Nice one, cheers. Being, what appear to be, sealed LED units i'd assumed they'd be one of those "replace the whole unit" parts that only Jaguar have access to.

I've decided to renew Jaguar Warranty - TBF I Just couldn't find anything as good for the price with the same level of cover so for me it was either have the Jag warranty or decide not to have warranty.

i might take out an after market warranty once the current approved runs out end of june , should get one for say £400 i would imagine just to cover the essentials , no big deal

Agreed.

Bought my V6S from Aston Martin Newcastle, supplied with a third party warranty. After discussions with my local JLR dealer and looking in more detail the warranty is hardly worth the paper it’s written on - there are more exclusions than inclusions and the limit of any claim is around £350!!

If, and when, I buy another F-Type I would get an OEM warranty.

Hope this helps guys

2 year come next month (feb) before covid , bought a 2014 ranger rover , dark grey with black pack outside , inside got the ivory or dove leather (cant make up my mind what it is , old age lol) at point of sale i took out AA waranty for two years on it , just before Christmas in early december the car went into RP mode , now i look after my cars well better than most on here i have a JLR code reader put it on , got the codes , looked them up . Manifold gone ! managed to drive it after talking on phone to a local landrover indy , i asked for a smoke test to be performed , results came back both manifold's Gone , i had inspected the engine bay prior and had found at top left hand of engine bay their was a lot of oil ! , back on to the indy . the two manifolds gone at same time , now thats un usual , normily its one that goes and they advise changing the other as it will go as well , frantic phone call to the warranty company and sweating as i knew from reading on other forums this will be a big ish bill , indy also found i needed two hand brake sensors , I had been getting the odd warning flash up on dash , i left it to the warranty company and the garage to sort out , only having to step in once as the indy garage wanted shot of my car due to it taking up space on the ramps , after nearly 10 days it was all sorted . i had by this time given the garage the go ahead to do the work , fearing like you guys i would be left to pay a large bill weeks before santa . the warranty company came good and paid out for the work , so come june i know were my £400 will be going and it wont be to jaguar extended warranty , mine has a £5 grand limit though , but your money your choice at end of the day

forgot the bill breakdown , manifold £286.06 x 2 coolant £22.50 park prake motor £210.59 x 2 . labour £890. = £1906.34 vat @ 20% £2287.6 :D
