What is this and how bad is it?

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and just purchased the F-Type 5.0T 575 horsepower V8 2019 in Qatar. Previously owned 2 other Jaags.
It is quite hard to find good mechanics here compared the the UK and I had an inspection which found this crack.
My question is what is it, is there a part for this or is it structural, how bad is it and can it be repaired?
I think it is by the rocker arm, but I am not mechanical at all.
Any idea of the part I would need (if possible), a simpler temporary fix or what to do would be great!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your purchase.

It appears to be part of the front valance and crushtube as shown here... https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1076.2437.11408/brand/jaguar/

I think its the longitudinal member (right-hand side) which is item number 4 in the diagram (part number T2R8368)? Item number 11 in the diagram is the honeycomb section shown in your pic (right-hand side) that is bolted on top of it.
I’m wondering if the car has had any front end damage at some time and did the inspection find anything else unusual? As you’ve just purchased it can’t you let them sort it out?

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot! Yes it had some front end damage and it was repaired. The inspection company just do inspections and not repairs. I will take it to the local Jaguar repair here but let’s see how much they quote! A few other things need doing but otherwise seems the rest of repair was good from the inspection and they said it was safe.

This crack was bugging me though.

The car was half price compared to what they go for in the UK so I can’t really complain. The drive is absolutely amazing - I just wish I got it sooner!

Thanks again mate!

Actually, there were a couple of other things.
What seems to be (according to my very non-existent mechanical knowledge) the Bellow/boot Kit? 3 need replacing so was planning to order front and rear kits C2D44390 and T2R20041. Would this be correct? see the image.

And what appears to be some damage at the rear, but seems to be more cosmetic to me - should I repair it and if so what is it?

Apologies for knowing nothing about this, but I work in tech - so all the my brain power is targeted towards that! 😁

👍

I thought it may have but at least you know the car is safe after having it inspected. Fabulous looking machine!

Yes you are correct. The front halfshaft assembly rubber boot kit part number is T2R20041 https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1081.2477.11568/brand/jaguar/ and the rear halfshaft assembly rubber boot kit part number is C2D44390 https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1081.2477.11567/brand/jaguar/

The damage at the rear is the left wheel arch liner and from your pic It looks like the wheel rim has been catching on it? You could probably get away without repairing it (depends on how fussy you are) as you can't normally see that area anyway. However, if the rim has been catching on it you need to get that sorted. The part number for the rear left wheel arch liner is T2R2199 as shown here... https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1075.2429.11368/brand/jaguar/

As you say, the car was half price compared to what they go for in the UK so although you’re going to have to spend a bit to get the issues sorted, this should more than make up for it!

Thanks again! :)
Good point on the wheel arch liner and seems not a big fix, but I was also wondering about this bit (which does seem more cosmetic) -

What do you think?

Thanks

That needs sorting.

It's a heatshield and they're shown here...https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1067.2386.11173/brand/jaguar/

Thanks, took it to the local Jaguar -who have it now - I have updated them on this. Will be relatively pricey but I would rather have them in the service history and I know the repair should be better than a local garage.
