hehe that's how a lot of us started, I hired twice from there and then found myself spending 8k more than I meant to, to get one of my own ;) I haven't had any trouble with the rear end on the RWD but I came out of 10 years in a lightweight upgraded RWD jap coupe with no traction control at all so am fairly light footed by instinct nowadays.<div> </div><div>Try the v8r, but it may not be for you, I knew within a few miles it wasn't for me but it is better to know, that to always be pining for the next model up. I really wouldn't swap mine for one even if someone offered to do it for free.</div><div> </div><div>The parking gets better, but erm not much ;o) It's definitely not the easiest car to manoeuvre through tight gaps - width restrictions are definitely wince inducing as are standard garage doors.</div><div> </div><div>Think of the petrol use as an opportunity to stop and meet other drivers who will want to talk to you about your car ;) It's a very sociable vehicle generally - a cyclist stopped by me yesterday not to yell at my slightly-into-the-main-road-and-thus-bike-lane nose, but to compliment me on the car; This is a genuine London first :P</div><div> </div><div>Go on, you know you want one!</div><div> </div><div>Jess</div>

Massive difference between the base model and the S. <br /><br />Adaptive dynamics being the biggest one, mech ltd slip diff etc. <br /><br />I think you might find a base model coupe for £40k in 12 months, maybe even an S. After all, in 2017 the launch cars become 3 years old so the no warranty traders will start to emerge. Rule of thumb is (most) cars halve in value retail-wise after 3 years (my loaded S would be £80k if I bought it new now, it cost me £40). <br /><br />Personally, upping my used budget by £3.5k has got me a dealer supplied S as opposed to a base car. <br /><br />Best of luck finding a V8 coupe in budget though. Everyone knows it's inferior to the V6S anyway. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> <edited><editID>MOz</editID><editDate>2016-10-11 07:22:37</editDate></edited>

<div><br></div><div>I think I will try the V8R but I hear the traction is limited. I also know what you mean about the garage. We have I think a standard door with a 225cm opening and the car is 192.3cm not much room for manoeuvre !</div><div><br></div><div>Your right I do want one!</div>

<div><br></div><div>Thanks for this and I agree you are right uping my budget from e.g. £35k to £45k would make a world of difference. For example 4 weeks ago I spoke to a Jag dealer in Scotland who offered me a well spec'd V8S in IRR 3 years old for £45k. The benefit of which was just 6600 miles and off course the 2 year warranty. It also had the service pack. But £35k would only get me a base 3.0 with probably 30k miles.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

I didnt find the v8r difficult to handle btw, traction seemed fine to me, it just felt heavier in the bends and needed to be going a ton to get the noise ;) i like my license!

Interstingly, in this months' Jaguar World, they say - The AWD F-Type V8R ''detracts from the nimbleness of the RWD due to the extra 500Kgs''<div>''The handling feels laden, heavy and slow to respond, unlike the fast, dart-like sports car experience that the previous V8s had given''</div><div><br></div><div>However when I read that the writer reckons that the RWD is ''like a box of frogs craziness'' his credibility and understanding seems to have been blown out of the window! ;-)</div>

I've driven both the RWD and AWD V8R and to be honest struggled to tell the difference on the road even at test drive levels of enthusiasm. I don't agree with that writer's opinion. Sure on the track the extra weight will make a difference...but I did feel the AWD made the power delivery a bit more civilised and all year useable; 500+ bhp definitely has to be respected. For that reason I bought an AWD! But it's still twitchy.
