Warranty renewal

Decided this year to shop around as the Jaguar Extended Warranty looked expensive. Have done it with MotorEasy, it was about £750 but they gave me 18 months cover. Labour rate of £200 per hour, no excess. Covers all the things Jaguar cover plus wear and tear as well! Plus they allowed payment by quarterly instalments at no extra cost. Checked first with my Jaguar main dealer to ask if they had dealt with them before and if company was reasonable to deal with, they said no problems and had dealt with them a few times without issue.

My 'R' turns 4 next week. I've had it for 2 and a half years. I picked it up with 4300 miles on the clock and it has now done 9700 miles. I've never had any issues with the car (other than dealer inflicted low battery issue) and have never taken extended warranty but am wondering if I should do it for the next year. What is holding me back is the low mileage and the fact that most days it sits in my garage.

Will get a quote with MotorEasy.

SESH, did you also look at the forum sponsor ALA warranty, and if so why did you decide against them. Their GAP insurance is highly recommended but not seen any reviews of their extended warranty.

The labour rates for ALA which is in conjunction with the RAC warranty is £60 plus VAT as stated below, so practically worthless!!!

Hardly worthless - fits nicely with my independent's rates. ;)

The garage labour rate covered by MotorEasy policy is only £60 per hour so will pass!

I got a quote online, then an agent called me and we went through some negotiations and I ended up with £200 per hr labour rate without any excess, plus they offered me 18 months cover for the price of 12 spread over 4 quarterly payments, interest free.

I used a fake mob no. when I ran a quote so will try again with the real details this time and see if they come back to haggle.

Interesting, let us know how you get on.
ALA have reverted with the £60 limit but are trying to up this to £100 in the near future.
What are JLR's labour rates now?

What are JLR's labour rates now?

It will vary dealership by dealership - I think the local one here is around £120 per hour. I imagine the ones in London are near the £200 per hour mark.

Well, spoke to a recommended local Jaguar specialist. He didn't recommend Motor Easy, also his labour rate is £98 ph.
They found Warranty Wise the best for all round cover and claim payment.
Got a quote from them which came out at £1100😮😮

JLR have just called back and agreed to reinstate the JLR warranty which was £1,060 without Jag assist or £1170 with Jag assist.

So have renewed with them.

Been looking at a Macan GTS as a replacement for the daily car. Porsche warranty is some £300 cheaper, which I guess is indicative of JLR claims history.
