Warranty renewal

Hi All,

I have received my Jaguar extended warranty renewal with a 26% increase!!! from £769 to £ 971.

The car will be 4 years old in September, and at the moment the milage is 8200, it seems a huge increase

As anyone else receive theirs? and if yes what increase did you get.

I called the company providing the warranty and I was told the 4th and 5th year it is more expensive.

Any comment appreciated.

Hmmm interesting! I bought a really low mileage V8S (2014 MY) last November and was wondering if they will offer an extended warranty....my car still has <10k miles!

That's about what I was charged for my first extension a couple of months ago.

At renewal the car needs to be under 10 years and 100k miles.

Naturally the cost will increase with the risk.

Bear in mind that you pay over 10 months at no extra cost and can cancel it if you sell.

My first year was £959 and this year was £1,159.

Compared to the cost of warranty work already carried out it's a no brainer for me.

I also find my local Inchcape dealer is very accommodating in submitting a claim and getting things sorted promptly.

Maybe it helps as they've had my service (2 minor 1 major) since purchase of the car with the previous 2 year Jaguar Approved Used warranty.

I was fortunate to get the recent big service and spark plug change done for free as a gesture of goodwill, which clearly helps.

Blimey, what had they done to you that you needed that much goodwill? :?

It was when it threw a shell bearing and needed a new engine.

...previous warranty episodes being rear cross brace, brake air deflector, water pump, Y pipe under supercharger, fuel injector failure (twice).

£15+k under warranty so took a bit of persuasion but the bloke that was there at the time was on to the case for me and pushed it through.

I think he guessed my next service was an oil change (or maybe because he was about to leave!) but I sent the service manager his email in when booking what should have been a £750ish service and I think I could hear someone go gulp!

You weren’t joking when you said you’d had some warranty work done this morning!

'tis but a scratch

Well I've had 40k+ miles of enjoyment out of it over 3+ years at max. £19k depreciation with a £15k new engine to boot, pretty low service costs so far, and an aluminium car that won't rust.

Sure I've had my fair share of grief - and someone else's too maybe! - but I'm not sure what other car would have given me such brilliant fun at such good value. So I keep my warranty and play along.

I can think of no other car that would make me smile so much to start up and drive - and unlike a V8 you can really nail a V6 without it overpowering itself.

I "need" a convertible to enjoy the sun (or snow!) and feel good driving, so it limits choice - but it was bloody good to drive over the Swiss Alps and around Tuscany. AWD and BMW "efficiency" just doesn't do it for me, as at normal road speeds there's no feeling of controlling the car and enjoying the drive.

Swung by Wickes after the drive and a photo shoot this morning - it's practical too ;)

Apologies - I seem to have gone slightly off topic

This thread, just triggered a thought that my warranty must be due soon.
Unfortunately it expired end July😯
Just gone online to try to extend, only to get a message that there are no applicable options for extension.
I have never had a reminder that the warranty is expiring. Has anyone renewed after their warranty has expired?

Exactly the same happened to me...I received no reminder or offer to extend...nothing - strikes me a bit odd???

Spoke to our friendly Aftersales manager, and I at least, have to present my car for a ''2 hour pre-warranty check'' (on a car that they know is better than new), at which point they may offer to extend the warranty!

Rob, my 3yr warranty ended in July too. I phoned Jag to get 1yr extended warranty, backdated.

How long was yours out of warranty Tel?

Months before I noticed Rob....maybe 4 or so!

I would have thought that I would have been fighting them off with a stick a couple of months before expiring as it's a good little earner - strange.

May have to look into the forum sponsor ALA's warranty in which case I would go independent for servicing.

You can go independent for servicing anyway - only warranty work has to be done at the dealer. My 2nd and 3rd services were both done by an independent and had subsequent warranty work done at the dealer - my independent pointed out the defective areas and advised me to get them fixed for nothing. He'll never be rich! ;)

Thanks Kevin,
When did you call them, I.e. how many days over?
I guess this was moving from your manufacturer 3 year warranty to the first year extended?

Which independent do you use?
Dorset Sports Cars seem to have a good reputation.

I use Foxtec Services in Southampton. He's not a Jag specialist but he's had the answer to every Jag-specific question I've thrown at him so far. And given me answers to relevant questions I hadn't asked, too!

About 2 weeks over. And yes, moving from 3yr manufacturer warranty.
