Want a V6S convertible now?

I have seen a few mentioning the painful wait for a F Type. I'm not sure if there is a shortage of convertibles, however if you are having trouble try calling Kelvin at Carrs Jaguar in Truro. I know they have 2 or 3 Convertibles available. No Coupes however.

I don't think convertibles have ever been in short supply, the dealers seem to have loads of stock, that might change though, as they have cut production to less than half due to the arrival of the coupe.

Thanks. I did wonder. I just thought it might help if someone is struggling to source one and didn't want to wait. I believe they produced too many convertibles at outset having misjudged demand.

Yes they definitely flooded the market.I almost bought a convertible last year but really wanted the coupe, I'm pleased I waited as I much prefer it and residuals are much better on the coupe. It still baffles me why they launched the convertible first, it didn't seem to make any sense.

I didn't get the convertible first thing either, until I was told that apparently Jaguar expected to sell well over 50% (can't remember the exact % but it was v.high) of F-Type's in the USA, where the demand for the roadster was much greater. That was my local dealer's reasoning anyway.

I heard that 2 about the US. I was tempted to buy a Convertible but decided I really wanted the Coupe. I love the thing. Best car I have ever had. I went V6S as the V8 frightened me to death! It is a monster of a car.

You are right, there is no shortage of convertibles, that is if you want a dealer ex demo car, check out Pistonheads.<div><br></div><div>For me, the Coupe, and it grips me to say this, looks more attractive. </div><div>However, a sportscar in my opinion should have no roof, and scare the wits out of you if you push the loud pedal too hard. </div><div>I think the 4 exhausts look better :-)</div>

I don't disagree with the sentiment and the V8 with the roof down is an awesome experience. I have had a few soft/hard tops and no longer have a yearning to have the roof down. With the V8 I also feared that I may have less time with the car than with the V6S as I found the car an absolute beast and felt like I would end up in a hedge one day! I only had it for a weekend so I would have no doubt got use to it.

4 out of my 5 previous cars to the F-Type were V8's so that would have been the logical choice for me, but A, its a bit too rich for me and B, after driving and hearing the V6 I was more than happy to drop a couple of cylinders.I will have a drive in an R one day and it could well be on my radar in the future, although I must admit I much prefer the look of the V6 rear to the R as I love the central pipes on the V6.I guess everyone's different and that's why manufacturers offer different variants .One thing is for sure though all variants get great press reviews, so no matter what one we choose we are guaranteed a great drive.

The thing that swayed it for me was surprisingly, on the 2 hour test drive of both V6S the V8S, the latter drank less juice, that was my lame excuse, convincing my passenger (other half) that this was the way to go.<div>Has nothing to do with being addicted to the acceleration or the unmistakable sound of the 8 <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /><br><div><br></div><div>The V6S is the sweet spot of the range according to the 'experts' so it's a no brainer.</div><div><br></div><div>I wished they had put a wide flat central exhaust at the back...16'' wide by 1'' deep would do.</div><div><br></div><div>I wonder how long it will be before a hardtop is available to convert your convertible into a pseudo coupe?</div></div>
