Seriously considering buying a V6S with several options including the upgrade to a Meridian 380W system. However after finding some adverse comments on the web not sure whether the audio upgrade is a sensible move. Would be grateful for your thoughts.

I did not upgrade and, personally, find the base system more than good enough. My old XK ad the full upgraded system and I struggle to tell the difference. <div><br></div><div>I guess much depends on what you use the system for. 80% of my listening is Radio 4 / 2 / 4Extra with the rest Spotify. The base quality is poor enough from those sources that I can't see how much more listening pleasure I'd get from the upgrade.</div><div><br></div><div>If you have very high bitrate audio sources then I could see there will be a marked difference.</div><div><br></div><div>Now seats .... I regret not finding the extra cash for better leather. The base seats are quite hard and the leather not very compliant. They do the job well and are actually comfortable but not as good as my outgoing XK.</div><div><br></div><div>Pano Roof : essential - horribly dark without. </div><div>Vision Pack : Essential if only for the folding mirrors. Lights v.good though</div><div>Parking Pack : Bleeding hard to park without :)</div><div><br></div>

Hi MGTF160,<br /><br />I took delivery of a V6S Coupe three weeks ago and am delighted with it. After much deliberation I opted to have the Meridian 380watt system and I'm generally pleased with the quality and volume of the sound it produces. However, at £850 I'm not certain that it represents true value. Haven't heard the standard system as all the demonstrators were fitted with the Meridian upgrade but I'm not sure that it's quite worth the premium price. I've had to turn the subs down as there is too much bass from them on default settings. The primary sound source is the twin pipe ensemble at the rear!!<br /><br />By far the best options are the performance memory seats which are superbly comfortable and enable the all important option of being able to dip both mirrors which I have found to be very handy for parking and reversing.<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br />Scoobydoo<edited><editID>scoobydoo</editID><editDate>2014-09-23 13:31:02</editDate></edited>

Hi <div><br></div><div>I have the V6S Coupe with the 380 watt upgrade, it is better than the base system that was in my XF but as scoobydoo points out not really £850 better.</div><div><br></div><div>Performance seats in premium leather ( red ) which I am really pleased with.</div><div>I did not go for the panoramic roof and am happy with how light it is. </div><div>Spent the money on 20" gloss black wheels, exterior gloss pack and front parking sensors plus noisy button.</div><div><br></div><div>In Lunar Grey, which looks nothing like the representation on the Jaguar Configurator. Looks absolutely stunning ( in my biased opinion <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /> ).</div><div><br></div><div>Tony H</div>

I think the base system is perfectly acceptable, then again I know everyone says it, but you really won't spend much time listening to the stereo as the noise from the back is a much better sound!

One point about the V6S 380. It's only a remap away from a V6 340. Might be worth spending the extra on options you want on a 340 and then getting it remapped if you find you want the extra 40 bhp.

Thanks for the replies the audio upgrade is not a deal breaker but other owners opinions are always useful. Bluebird have ticked all those boxes and having experienced the memory seats during a couple of test drives they were on my list as well. No LSD on the 340 and as I have a Nissan 370Z at the moment would not be without one. Great fun building a car on the Jaguar configurator (only on version 13) but I think opening the wallet time is close.

Hi,<br><br>Almost forgot to mention that I really like the illuminated treadplates which are a nice touch on these darker evenings. They light up phosphor blue (which matches the ambient lighting on the V6S) and are decent value at £250 fitted during manufacture. They cost much more to add later - nearer to £600.<br><br>I decided against the Panoramic roof (being follicly challenged and sun wary!!) but spec'd the grey morzine headlining and I don't find the inside at all dark, even with black leather performance seats.<br><br>Hope you get an early build slot once you have decided as the wait is agony!<br><br>Regards.<br><br><br>Scoobydoo<br>

<div>Yes tread plates are on the list, which is longer than my arm!</div>

My F has a totally standard system. I deliberately didn't spec the upgrade as the general feel from customers wasn't that positive.
<div>I must say that I am impressed with the performance and sound - I'm no audiophile, but it plays the music well, plenty of oomph, bass is deep and the highs nice and crisp. </div><div><br></div><div>That said, I deliberately have the volume low as my ears are listening to the cruscendo of pops, farts and music coming form the Stainless steel section of the orchestra at the rear! </div>
