Tyre size confusion

I’ve just picked up a new to me 20 plate type r,
The tyres on it are 305/30 r20 265/35 r20

When I put my reg into tyre websites it comes back with 295/30 r 20 255/35 r 20,

Bit confused, has someone put wider tyres on or are the wider ones correct??

Thanks

Simon

Standard fit on the R wheels is 295 and 255 as you suggest. Although the other spec is standard for SVR and R575 wheels which are slightly wider.

Quite a few people have put the wider spec tyres on the standard rims. It's only +5mm each side and doesn't give any problems.

Looking at continental sport 6 and 7, the p zero are rated 103y on the front, can only find continental in 99y for the front, is that high enough or does it need to be 103,

I have Michelin PS4S on mine with load indexes 99 (265) front and 103 (305) rear. They are the same spec as the Pirelli tyres previously fitted.

Your R575 has the same running gear as the SVR, so 99 load index on the front is correct, I should think. Odd that my paper handbook MY2020 provides tyre size specs, but the online manual for 2021 doesn't!

Your car is on the correct size tyres. The MY21 facelift Type R is on 265/305 combination. P450 remains on 255/295.

Got the from wrong, they are 99, didn’t look properly, have noticed the rear are AO marked, which I think is Audi, any issues running that ??

Nothing wrong per se as still legal, MOT compliant, etc.. The issue is that they have been developed away from the standard spec to suit whatever Audi planned to use them on. Each manufacture typically builds in differences to suit their car, intended use, weight, engine location, driveline, etc. Audi blurb mentions smoother ride on some AO tyres
You'll probably never notice but at replacement get the correct JLR versions or generic

Can I put a little wider tire on my 2015 F-Type? Currently 245/40ZR19 front and 275/35/ZR19 rear. I don’t want to do any modifications and to my knowledge per the dealer there are wheel spacers.

Sorry Mick, that's incorrect, assuming the 20 plate is a facelift car. Facelift R from MY21 is standard fit 265/305 combination. P450 remains on 255/295 combo.

I think we're saying the same thing. Cars with the 575PS engine i.e. SVR and 'R' 575 (facelift) are the only ones fitted with the wider 305 and 265 tyres as original equipment.

In summary OE is :
SVR and R575 are 305/30 and 265/35 20
All others are 295/30 and 255/35 on 20 inch wheels.

I believe, both these 'wider wheel' models have basically the same running gear, so the wheel offsets will differ from the other F type variants.

Jaguar have added to the confusion by re-using model designations over time. The 'S' originally denoted the V8 version and this then changed with V8s becoming the 'R', alongside some V6's then assuming the S designation! Lately, we now have the 'R' label re-used for only the latest top V8 model (albeit with the 575 naming alongside) in place of the discontinued SVR variant. The other current V8 is known as the P450.

Perhaps JLR see this as a future specialist subject on Mastermind, it's complicated enough 🤣.

My 2021 F-Type R 575 AWD has 305/30 ZR20 99Y Pirelli P-Zero PZ4 (Jag specific “J”) on the rear and 265/35 ZR20 99Y Pirelli P-Zero PZ4 (Jag specific “J”) on the front.

So yours are correct. If I search on my reg too, it gives the smaller sizes for the detuned F-Type 5.0 V8.
