Trapped Injector

My F type had a cylinder 4 failure over 2 weeks ago. It’s been in the local jaguar dealership since then.
It’s an injector failure. Unfortunately the injector is stuck within the cylinder and they are unable to remove it.
They have tried various things (liquids etc) but to no avail. They are still trying to locate a specialist company that will remove the injector. Jaguar don’t want to undertake a full strip down. They claim this is a ten hour job. With the obvious labour charge.
The car is approaching 4 years old and 30k miles, and has a platinum RAC warranty. RAC (I hope) will cover the fault, but not the full labour costs.
My local dealership is heaving, as they have closed the local land rover garage so all Jag-LR are under a crowded roof. So I’ve had no courtesy car. I’ve had a hire car for 2 weeks. I’ve a feeling they don’t have the time to do the full 10 hour job given all their work load.
I must admit it’s tainted my view of the brand and has left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep the car once it’s fixed.
Any advice on how I can speed this up? I’m losing patience.

Have you considered going through your insurance? Whilst I accept your premium may (not sure if you have protected no claims etc) increase by a few £, this would probably be much more cost effective than paying for this bill yourself. You’d also get a hire car. Plus the increase in premium would be drawn out over 1-3 years so less upfront cost

As for speed, you could always take it to another dealer?
I’d be pushing for a courtesy car ASAP (even if the wait is a few weeks...

Some of the guys on the US forum use BK44K annually to keep their injectors sweet. No idea if it works ....

I think it's the external housing that seizes in the head that's the problem.

Yeah, I know, but I was thinking that if the injectors were healthy they wouldn't need to be removed. ;)

Apparently there is a “specialist” company coming to jaguar tomorrow To remove the injector. Hopefully this will do the trick and the problem will be solved.
Having searched for injector problems it appears I’m not alone, and not the first to have one stuck!

Yes please let us know the outcome. Fingers crossed. You would not believe there are people who make a living just removing stuck injectors.

Well. I’m still waiting. Currently driving my mothers mini. Still no courtesy cars available.
My over all faith in the brand has gone. I don’t think I’ll be a Jaguar owner for long in 2020. Which is a shame as it’s been my dream car since it’s launch. I guess I achieved it at least.

It's mechanical i'ts a car. Any car can have mechanical failures. If you dump each one in turn then eventually you'll end up on a push bike. I'm sure when you get it back you'll change your mind. :D 8-) :)
