TPMS unavailable after battery reset

I had to to a forced reset by disconnecting the battery earth for half an hour (red triangle staying on after a service). This was successful as the red triangle no longer stayin illuminated. I left the car unused for a few days due to bad weather, then on first start up I had the error message that no TPMS is available. There were no error messages driving home from the service, then I did the reset, so the error has only come up after the reset. I've driven 28 miles this evening and it hasn't resolved itself.
Is there a way to restore the TPMS functionality and clear the error message?
Thanks in advance

I think you need a scan tool. I bought one to code my new battery as I bought the correct Varta battery with a 5yr guarantee (as opposed to 2yr from my Jag Indy) AND the scan tool for the same price for the Indy to supply, fit and code a new Varta battery. My scan tool has TPMS reset ability and I plan to use that when the temp drops and I fit my new set of wheels shod with winter tyres and new TPMS valves.
