To SIM or not to SIM

Hi,

Since purchasing the car 2017 V6 R-Dynamic AWD (MY18) last year, I have never been able to successfully activate and link a here maps account to my online profile from within the car.
Every time I try to complete the registration process from within the car, I always receive the error msg:

“Sorry. There was a problem at our end. Please sign in later.”

Having left a Jag dealer earlier today to book my annual service, I mentioned this and they said "are you sure you registered the SIM card properly?" :(

My scenario:
Got a 24Gb for 24m 3 Data SIM
Car registered the SIM OK and have the 4G symbol
Have enabled Data Roaming
Can share its Data with other devices within the car and the car accurately records its usage.
Can update Headunit (8" Touch Pro) software via OTA where applicable (not sure if this uses the 3 SIM or not)

I have valid licenses and accounts for InControl Remote as well as jaguar.here etc but I still cannot get passed the initial Car log in screen
My online jaguar.here account lets me add my VIN, but trying to complete the link between online account and car simply does not work and the Jaguar Route Planner app confirms this by saying "No vehicle found"... sign in via your car..... argh!

I have read that a few people have successfully solved this by replacing broken parts or teh SIM itself, but mine definitely works (at least in the conecxt of providing data to other devies in the car) - so the SIM and its reader is good. I also read that someone else managed to fix their issue by connecting the car to their hosue WiFi. Unfortuantely that is not an option presented to me within my connectivity settings menu.

I'm soooo close to purchasing a laptop and mongoose or VCX SE reader along with some hooky Pathfinder software and then no doubt coming back here to cry that I bricked my car - haha :)

Sure it can't be this hard?

If only I had the 10" screen and I'd be using Android Auto with Google Maps instead.

Have you got an In Control subscription, i.e bought it from Jaguar?
It only comes with 3 years subscription new and then needs to be extended each year?

Yup, have InControl subs.

Have no idea what the score is with this one.

Under my subscription, I have Secure Tracker as well as Remote Premium & Protect. This may explain the lack of car location. It is an additional cost on the inControl service.

Have you spoken to LRretrofits? He may be able to help sort out the issue and your car might be new enough to have the 10” screen retrofitted, although this is a more expensive route obviously. Worth speaking to him (Mo), very knowledgeable about these issues.

What sim card are you all using anyway, ie what's the best pay as you go or whatever for the car? I doubt it uses that much data? Driving around planning the odd route

I'm using a £10 monthly Giffgaff SIM. Never seen more than a couple of GBs per month, usually quite a bit less.

Hi

Did you get to the bottom of this one, as I am having the same issue with the software and registration of the car with the account (I am also using a 3 sim card).

Cheers
Matt

Really odd issue and really sounds like some strange software problem somewhere. Did you consider installing a UAD interface or having LR retrofits install the 10" screen?

Not sure what a UAD device is. However I did strongly consider the 10" screen but I dont live anywhere near LR retrofits and I'm a bit dissapointed that even if I did then I would loose some Air Con control (as mentioned in another post) - quite bummed about that actually as I really fancied getting Android Auto.
