The XF is dead, long live the F-Type!

Hi all

Hope everyone is well and surviving the current English lockdown!

So my story is I've had Jags for a number of years from X-types through to my latest which was the XF Sport for the last five years. Having blown a conrod a month ago (a known issue around the DPF filter apparently!) I had a few sleepless nights on what to do next. I've always loved the F-Type and never thought I'd be in a position to own one, but work's been good recently and following a couple of personal (I won't say tragedies but sad stories shall we say) I decided (with the support of my lovely wife!!) to bite the bullet and get one.

I pick her up on Wednesday evening and am slightly excited shall we say!!! She's a late 2014, bright red, V6 Supercharged, 340bhp version (I couldn't stretch to the S or R unfortunately) with 10k on the clock - literally like brand new and ticks every box for me. I was sold as soon as the salesman fired up the engine to be honest and have fallen head over heals. Hope I've made the right decision and look forward to catching up with fellow owners on here.

All the best

Shaun

Welcome to the club! You've definitely made the right decision, rest assured. ;)
I bet Wednesday seems weeks away!

Thanks SCM. Must admit I had a few sleepless nights worrying about the decision but well and truly got my head round it now! Today seems to be longer than usual, even for a Monday! Feels like Christmas as a six year old at the moment!!

Hello Shaun,

Welcome to the club.

Can you post some photos when possible? We love photos!

UPDATE 12/11/20
So I picked it up last night and have driven to the office today as had to get in. 1.5 hour drive to collect and 2.5 hour drive this morning. Dear god what a car!!! Absolutely love it. Then noise of the thing. Don’t need a stereo!! One thing I’d picked up in various reviews was a poor stereo system. To be honest it’s not a B&O type thing but still fine for me. Viciously quick and snappy when you want it to be and calm and regal when you want to cruise along. Averaged 31.5 mpg as well which is better than my old XF sport! Just really chuffed at the moment and can’t wait for the drive home!!!

Sounds like you have the good taste to appreciate it!

Like you, I find the speakers at the back more than enough for entertainment! And, as you observed, it's a pussy cat when you want it to be, and a snarling beast with a bit of right foot! Enjoy! :D
