Technical question after having bought my F-Type

As just mentioned into the introduction, I have recently bought my F-Type Coupe V6S and would like to share the feed-back after several weeks as I had a bit of issues
After several weeks of using it I have noticed the car was quite noisy and the active exhaust on/off was not making many differences... After a check at my Jag dealer it was finally the active system that didn't work properly (stuck valve). The exhaust was finally replaced under warranty :P
Then I have also noticed some squeal noises just before stopping the car braking at a stop sign. back to the dealer they have put some grease at the back of the pads and it's now much better :D
Finally last week end after a drive, I now have the information at the dashboard that the pads have to be changed :o After a quick check pads are ok so I have to go back next week to the Jag dealer but it's probably the pad sensor. It seems they are quite easy to damage when removing the pads. Is it right ?
Hopefully it'll be better in the coming weeks and I'll be able to enjoy my big cat ;)

Coming back to additional questions
1. Next Maintenance :
I have noticed into the dashboard menu (car information menu) that I can't find how many kms I can drive till the next maintenance. I can find the info into the Incontrol apps from my phone but not in the car. I had a chat with the Jag dealer who mentioned that phase 1 was not providing this information, we just have to wait the reminder message that should pop up when it is requested to be done. Phase 2 had an update into the menu to get this info. It it right ? is there a possibility to update the software to get this info? I saw some post referring to K405 Service Bulletin but I think it is for cars who didn't warn the driver when maintenance should be done. Furthermore my Vin number is above the ones mentioned into K405 SB. What do you think ? Below picture of the menu I have without this next maintenance info.

2. Radio :
Can you help to confirm under the radio menu if by selecting "stations" n°1 from picture below I should have a full list of available radio stations or only the one I'm listening to. On my car I can only see one radio station... Is there a particular option to activate to get the full list of available station ?

3. Recall campaign :
I have seen into the car History that Service Bulletin H007, J081, F617, H0078, have been applied on my car. Do you know what was the reasons of these upgrades ?
I was also mentioned during my last visit to the Jag dealer that I have to perform the H239 upgrade but finally discovered with him it is linked to reduce the sound level of the exhaust when we start the car... so mentioned him to not apply it. I think it was good decision :D

Thanks a lot for you help and will be happy to give you in couple of weeks more feed-back about driving the car

Lionel

The brake sensor warning - yes maybe the sensor broke after they fiddled with the pads. Another possibility is that the pads actually are worn out although you can't see it from the outside. Sometimes they wear out faster on the inside.

Regarding point 1 I don't think that can be enabled in the car. Never heard of any update affecting that. As you noticed you can see it in the app and it only shows in the car automatically when a service is approaching based on mileage or time.

What do you mean by phase 1 and 2 by the way? There were three main "phases" throughout the production of the F-Type. First the initial pre-facelift cars like yours up until model year 18. Then the 1st facelift cars from MY18 onwards and then the 2nd facelift cars with the digital dash and thin headlights as of MY20 or MY21 unless I'm mistaken.

Thanks for the advice about the inner pads, may simply come from that. To be checked soon !
By phase 1 and 2 I was meaning Facelifts. I think this next requested maintenace info is now available into the car info menu. Anyway not a big deal as I have the info into the apps of the phone

Bonjour Lionel et bienvenu.

I also have a MY16 V6S, so in answer to some of your queries,

1. My car is due its annual service next week based on time, not mileage. Your dealer is correct. A message appears on the dashboard every time I start the car from about 3 weeks before the service is due with an estimated "mileage to go" figure, see photo below

2. When you press the "Stations" button, no. 1 in your photo, a new screen should open listing all the stations in range.

3. Good decision in not applying H239 update. You are correct, this does reduce the noise and the update cannot be undone once applied. Sorry, I'm not sure what the other ones were for.

I hope you continue to enjoy your new car.

Thanks NavigatorNI,

For the radio, after having pressed button n°1, the new window does open but I only have 1 radio station (the one I'm listening).
I can drive the car during half an hour but don't have a list of the radio range.
However I have noticed that if I manually seek to find other radio stations, then pressing button 1 I can see the radio station I have listened before.

It's as if there is no automatic scanning of all radio stations... strange... What do you think ? Is there an option into the menu to activate this radio station list ?

Thanks

still struggling with my radio settings, can anyone check on his car by pressing on button n°1 "stations" if a full list of radio range appears.
I don't have the DAB, only the FM .
I was thinking this station button was listing all radio stations I can listen to...
Thanks !

On mine, in FM, when I press the "Stations" button it gives me a list of FM stations running to 3 pages. I'm not sure whether this is a list of all the stations available or if it is a list of all my presets. Maybe try setting up a few presets in the memory and see if your list of stations changes. Unless anyone else can advise?

thanks for your reply, I believe it is the list of available station. I already have few presets in the memory but still have one radio listed in my stations menu. I noticed that if I manually seek the available radios along the FM band, then going back to the stations button I have a list of the radio stations. However when I stop and start again the car, only one radio listed (the one I'm lsitening to)...
Is there something to activate or set into the radio menu to get the radio list automatically.
Anyone els can advise ?
Thanks

Lionel, maybe a stupid suggestion and you may have tried it already : how about disconnecting the battery, waiting few minutes for all power to drain then reconnecting ?

If you do disconnect the battery, don't shut the boot lid! Piece of old carpet or similar across the latch will save that embarrassment.

I wonder if there's a small backup battery in the entertainment system somewhere which is supposed to retain the station memories. If this had failed it might result in the issue you describe. However I don't know if this exists or not. Good idea Ralph1780, disconnecting the main battery for a while often cures odd electrical problems.

Good point. A deep dive in the workshop manual should answer the question about a possible battery.

To give you an update on the radio stations, after having talked with the jag dealer, a media update may solve the issue, however as I didn't want to implement the H239 update (sound level of the exhaust), they mentioned there is a risk of loading it with the media update. They don't want to take the risk... Me neither...
For the service information into the dashboard menu, they mentioned that early cars (mine was build in 03/2016) don't have this information. It was implemented later on. According them no possibility to add it into the menu. The warning message will pop up when service time will be necessary

Haven't yet tried to disconnect the battery... and still have an empty list after pressing on "stations" when listening to FM radio from my presets. really weird...
Before trying to disconnect the battery, is there any specific procedure to reset the radio media ?
then disconnecting the battery, how long should I wait before reconnecting it, I saw several posts saying that even after 1 hour the radio presets are still there...

Hi all,
Finally I have tried to disconnect the battery, same result, radio station list still empty…
Wondering if a radio software update may help, if there is one… I have to ask Jag service.
By the way, do you know if they can only select the software update for Radio Media, I don’t want they apply the H239 update in the same time ?
Thanks
