SVR wheels... tyre advice

Sorry to ask so many tyre/wheel questions! Last one I promise :D

I'm buying a V6S but today I picked up some new 20" alloys for it. The wheels are genuine SVR wheels...

Hopefully the image above works correctly.

My question is...

The tyres the SVR would take are:
265/35/20 and 305/30/20 front/back

The recommended size for the V6S is:
255/35/20 and 295/30/20

So I'm a little at a loss as to which tyre size to go with. I don't want to change the gearing but don't know if I'd be stretching the tyres if I go with the current size on the SVR rim.

Has anyone done this or does anyone have advice as to which I should be buying?

EDIT:

I've just done a search on the alloys included with my car.

Standard non-SVR wheels are:

Front: 20x9
Rear: 20x10.5

(according to the internet... I don't have the car to confirm)

The SVR wheels...

Front: 20x9
Rear: 20x11.0

Stretch would be minimal due to the low profile but there will be a touch as the rims are quite wide.

In theory SVR tyres are a marginally taller wall, so better comfort, more grip and taller gearing so better economy too but maybe offset by the wider contact patch causing more friction.

As to how much of an issue this will cause with the cars traction control system from running a taller tyre is unknown. Only someone who is a tech at Jaguar would know but to be honest I think you will be fine as the cars traction system will be look at front to rear wheel speed and that percentage will still be identical to the stock sizes so if the case then get the SVR sizes.

Also make sure you get Michelin PS4S tyres as the stock Pzero tyres are not that good, particular in wet whereas Michelin are far superior and also last longer too.

Thanks, definitely going down the PS4S route without a doubt. I'm going to be selling my 20" tornado alloys with P-Zeros which are coming with the car and hopefully switching to the SVR wheels with Michelins.

I don’t suppose there’s a colour code on those wheels anywhere is there?
Need to get my black wheels refurbed and would prefer this grey to black.

Yes the colour is technical grey and you can obtain the paint from
http://www.wheelpaints.co.uk/Car-Manufacturers-Colours/Car-Manufacturers-Colours-I-P/Jaguar/JAGUAR-TECHNICAL-GREY-MET-24-00-145.Html?cPath=13_74_85
I have this colour on my SVR

Thanks for finding that.

It looks very dark and dull compared to your wheels above.
Could be the thickness of the spoke that make it look like that thoug

The paint has several layers of clear lacquer applied which gives it the look of the wheels above. This is 100% the correct paint for the "Grey" SVR wheels ;)

I currently run 265/35/20 and 305/30/20 front/back which are SVR sizes on the following alloys

May I ask where the black ‘growler’ wheel centres are from?

TIA

20 x 11's on my V8R's Forged Blades. Standard are 265/35/20 front and 295/30/20 rear.

265/35/20 and 305/30/20 rears are the way to go according to all the reading I have done on the US forums as well.

If you run 17mm spacers and are lowered on AP springs then you will have to roll the wheel arch lip to prevent rubbing with the slightly wider 305's at the rear.

I thought it was part of the black pack.. as my front badge is also black matching

Hi all,
I stumbled across this thread while researching whether I could change the wheels and tyres on my F-Type.

I have a V8 R (Rwd), which currently runs on the stock set-up:
- Gyrodyne wheels 20 x 9” front, 20 x 10.5” rear
- P-Zero tyres – 255/35 front, 295/30 rear

I recently acquired a set of SVR wheels and tyres, which have the following measurements:
- Type 1041 rims – 20 x 9” front, 20 x 11.0” rear
- P-Zero tyres – 265/35 front, 305/30 rear

After a bit of back and forth, the Jaguar service centre (who have discussed with Jaguar central) have refused to fit the new wheels. Their reason given is that they will not fit wheels designed for an SVR to another F Type model. I have pushed them to try and understand whether there is any technical reason why fitting the wheels is not possible, but they will not elaborate. I suspect it is more a case of Jaguar wanting to keep the SVR parts exclusive (which is fair enough), rather than any technical reason for not being able to fit the new wheels.

I have also discussed the matter with a number of independent garages. Several have said that given the wheel and tyre sizes are so similar (0.5" wider rear wheels, and 10mm wider front and rear tires), there should be no problem changing the wheels. However, others have said that changing the wheels could have a negative impact on the steering geometry, speedo (rolling radius), tyre pressure monitoring, gearing and potentially other things.

I don't want to take any chances and ruin the car, but suspect changing the wheels and tyres would probably be fine.

I would be really grateful for any experience you may have of this - in particular Wayne G and mbes2 - I think you have done something similar? Any adverse effects?

Thanks a lot

There is at least 1 V8 owner running SVR alloys and to the best of my knowledge he has experienced none of the potential issues you raise ....

Thanks Senninha. I tried fitting the wheels yesterday and there are no obvious signs of rubbing, so they seem ok from this perspective.

However, as the new rears have a greater offset than the standard gyrodyne wheels, they are more "tucked in" and don't look great.

I understand that spacers may provide a solution so trying to work out what size I'll need.

Thanks,

I have fitted these to MY 2015 R, you WILL need spaces on the rear due to the offset, whilst they may not rub when stationary they will over a bump.. I can confirm after having these on for a year, no issues at all..

I have had a couple of MY22 both came with red growler centre caps, now got MY 24 it came with black centre caps to much black on the wheels so swapped to red direct from Jaguar dealership around £10-12 each 🤨 but nice tight fit be careful of EBay ones some are a little loose 😬
I am looking to swap gril growler to red too
