Strange sound - any ideas?

So I have had my new MY18 for just over 2 weeks abs I am now hearing a sound when I make left turns only. It’s like a metallic sound, like something if hanging off underneath and hitting the floor now and then but quite a light noise. Nothing is actually hanging off. Hubby thinks it might be something to do with the breaks.

Any idea?

Luckily I managed to get a Jaguar extended warranty on it so will have to get it booked in. So annoying.

Is it coming from the front wheel area?
I’d put money on it being the brake shield.
Held on with a couple of bolts that can sometimes have a habit of working loose.
Had the same on mine and they replaced it free of charge while I waited.
If you take a look when the brakes aren’t hot you can see and try wiggling it with the steering on full lock 👍🏻

I hope it's not the brakes!

It maybe your differential - If it hasn't seen regularly oil changes (irrespective of JLR recommendations) then this could mean it's in dire need of one.
What mileage is on your car please?

Hi, it got just over 10k on it although 1200 of that is me.got her booked in with master technician at JLR next week as earliest they could get me in.

Will update after.

With an open diff and only 10k you’d be pretty unlucky to have diff issues, I’d second the brake disc shield.

Good luck with the JLR Maters tech...they'll most probably diagnose your issue LH side wiper blade or pollen filter needs changing and re-charge the AC whilst their at it :D

I thought they may have the LSD?

You know these cars better than me Tel but I thought the V6 340’s all came with open diffs and the 380’s have LSD’s ? Maybe it was an option?

I guess you never know how the previous owners have driven the cars but I’d still be unhappy with diff issues at 10k.

I had this on the rght front - the three Torx bolts had worked loose and were scraping against the disc when turning. Happened after 3,800 milles. Left side has been no trouble - go figure.

Nope, not on a 340.

Okeedokee - It was the ''Dynamic R'' bit that threw me. The R, historically with Jaguar was always the 'Racey" version and had all the bells and whistles.

Of course the V6 has the plain diff. If that's graunching then we do have issues!

Noooooo, don’t tell me things like that!

taking the husband with me as I don’t know enough about car stuff to know if I’m being fobbed off or not.

+1 for above. I had a ringing sound from right front wheel when turning sharp left & dealer said a bolt had worked loose and was touching the caliper. Easy fix.

Calliper bolts 'should' be secured with Loctite - If this issue has affected by the sounds of it, quite a few cars, you think that JLR may have had some process in place to check customers cars?

I know from experience of changing the pads that mine were Loctite'd.

It concerns me that calliper bolts are apparently working loose. It's pretty important fixing!!!

Nothing to do with the caliper bolts Tel.

It's just small bolts or screws holding the brake shield on - but having said that it seems a dab of thread lock would not go amiss here too!

Apologies, my mistake. I put two and two together and made eleventy billion!

Phew...that's not so bad.
