Coming back home today after visiting shops , already peed off cos EML light on ( see other post in technical forum) .
Pootling along gently in traffic about 40mph there’s a bang and sounds like something hits underside of car, didn’t see anything in road or fly off any other vehicles, get home and look at drivers side and there is a 1/2 “ jagged hole through the sill in front of rear wheel and the protection film is all ripped! Wtf?
Beginning think this car is jinxed!
Anyone had similar occurrence?

I've not had anything like that happen so far. You do seem to be having more than your fair share of misfortune, hope things improve next year!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune...

Last month I heard a click on the windscreen driving through heavy rain at night and next morning found a stone chip which grew to a crack right across the screen, I made a windscreen claim on the insurance and made sure it was a genuine Jaguar Pilkington replacement but these things happen,

I hope you have better luck from now on...

It seems more likely the front tyre has stood a bolt, nail, bar, etc. up thus spearing the sill. This happens a lot explaining why most punctures are in rear tyres

No way would a stone have the energy at road speed to do that

OMG I can see what you mean, :o

Personally I’d take it to a couple of reputable local body repair shops for quotes as that might be repairable and save you the price of a new panel...

yep ... agree with the above, ... should be a easy repair though hopefully

Wow, god knows what did that! I have massive sympathies - I owned my last car for 6 years no problems at all, and then this summer in my F-Type I had a double cracked windscreen in the first month from a random high flying pebble, and then a huge allen key lodged in my rear tire in the 2nd month (possibly deliberate which makes it worse) and then squeaky exhuast in the third, so I thought it was jinxed too! hopefully it'll all settle down soon for you, as touch wood i haven't had any problems since then.

Affected a temporary repair by replacing stone chip guard over hole once tidied up edges and then making another stone chip guard out of carbon fibre looking film I had, done other side to match, to be honest it looks quite good! I’ll take pic tomorrow, doubt panel will need replacing any repair is covered by stone chip guard anyway . Wait till better weather now.
How it managed happen baffles me though.
