Sprung a leak!

Mine has sprung a leak, dripping from the front of the nearside front wheel arch, puddle on the garage floor. I’m pretty certain it is screenwash fluid because it’s blue and feels a bit soapy. It isn’t pinky orange coolant and I’ve checked coolant level which is normal. Anyone else had this and is there an easy fix? The car is booked in for service & MOT at Jaguar Bristol Cribbs Causeway in a couple of weeks time, so I will ask them to take a look when it’s in, but if it’s a known thing with an easy DIY fix, I might be able to save myself some ££

Sounds like the headlight washer then.

Stand and look what happens when someone operates them.

Sounds exactly like the problem I've got. Bristol Cribbs looked and could find no issues. It was still doing it and I booked it in to Newport dealer and they couldn't find an issue either.

It's not leaked again but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

My car is booked in a for an MOT next month so Newport said if it happens again they will take another look.

Interesting point about the headlight washer - hadn't thought of that.

Here's my thread - https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=88469#p88469

Oddly it started with some yellow drips on the garage floor but the latest puddle of liquid was blue in colour, like yours.

Thanks @Lunar. You are probably right. It has started after a drive up the M5 from Exeter to Taunton yesterday evening. Plenty of use of the screenwash was necessary during the journey because the motorway had been freshly gritted. I noticed the puddle and dripping from the nearside front this afternoon. I got
Mrs W to have a look when I operated the washers and the windscreen and headlight washers are all working correctly and the drip doesn’t seem to either speed up or stop. I wonder whether it is something as simple as a split tubing or something. Looks like access to investigate further might need the front nosecone off though (which I’m not going to try myself)

Thanks @CSGMART. It will be the first time I go as a customer to Bristol Cribbs Sytner Jaguar (my nearest Jaguar to where I live near Taunton). The car is in for its first service & MOT in my ownership. I purchased it from Stockport Sytner Jaguar a year ago where it had had its first service done under previous ownership and also its prep for sale. Are you happy with Bristol Cribbs Sytner? I have no reason not to trust them, but would be interested to hear what you think….

Bristol Cribbs were OK. Quite a large dealership with plenty of sitting areas, coffee / tea etc. Had my car serviced there in November and no complaints.

The only thing I didn't like was all the staff sit behind frosted glass windows and unless they come out it's not easy to get hold of them to ask a question etc. It's also quite a busy dealership.

The dealer in Newport was much smaller and all the service staff were sat in desks on view and easy to walk up to to ask a question (if need be). Much quieter too and I managed to get my car booked in with only a week notice, whereas as Cribbs told me it would be April at the earliest.

Thanks @CSGMART for your advice. Useful to know that Newport Jaguar have shorter lead times and it’s not actually much further away from me, and I could include a journey there to visit my daughter who lives and works in Cardiff. I will see what Sytner Bristol Cribbs say at the service & MOT (I have a little collection of minor issues which should be covered under the warranty which covers until mid April this year: Nearside front parking sensor activating inappropriately whenever I drive less than 5mph (I have turned it off in settings at the moment), the drivers seat has started creaking loudly whenever I move or drive along anything other than a smooth road, and now the screenwash leak. None of these a big deal, but I’ll get them sorted before the warranty expires!) I don’t usually bother with extending warranty for the cars I have owned, but I’m thinking it may be worth it for the F-Type! A few niggles, but I don’t care, because I’ve got a Jaaaaaag! :D

Where are you based CSGMART? I’m assuming you’re in the South West like me. I’m just south of
Taunton. The thing that made me choose Bristol Cribbs Sytner Jaguar is that it is of course right next to the Cribbs Causeway Mall. Mrs W and I will have lunch and spend the afternoon wandering around the Mall whilst the F-Type has its service and MOT. Not sure which will be more expensive; the service and MOT for the Jag, or Mrs W’s spending in the Mall!

Hi DOC, I'm 30 minutes North of Bristol so a no-brainer for me to choose Cribbs and as you say, there is the Mall just across the way.

Good luck and hope that your wife doesn't spend too much!

I have the exact issue currently and after lots of searching around on various sites i think i have the answer. I removed the wheel arch liner as there is the secondary washer tank behind it. As my rubbish jack started to sink and the front hub got lower the fluid started to run out of the tank breather hole just above the max fill line and just kept running out. The primary washer tank in the boot that feeds the one behind the wheel arch has a small non return valve in it which fails and the fluid just keeps running to the front tank when the nose of the car is lower than the rear. Link below to the part that needs to be replaced.
Downside is that i believe the rear bumper need to come off to facilitate the replacement valve.

I would certainly let the dealer know in advance of your visit so they can allocate some additional time to investigate / repair your list of concerns I have read some where dealers limit the number of warranty jobs they complete monthly as the amount they receive from Jaguar is lower than they can earn doing service work

Ohhh, OK, that’s good advice. Thanks @Billymcmred. I’ll phone them tomorrow. The car is booked for service and MOT, so they may well not have time to fix the warranty issues so I am expecting to probably have to rebook it in, but I guess at least they may be able to have a look to understand the nature of the problems to order necessary parts, etc. Fortunately the drip making a puddle on my garage floor is only screenwash (ie not coolant, fuel, or oil!)
