SOS functionality amber warning

Sorry, I’ve seen a thread on here, but I’ve not been able to locate it since the ( out of service time)
My F type is 4.5 years old from new, and on every start up I get the aforementioned message, I know it’s not critical to my cars running, but wondering if there’s a definitive cure… thanks in advance guys

I have had this message for a couple of years. It's been in the dealers 3 times and still no solution. It seems to be a common issue, so why on earth they can't contact Jaguar for a solution is beyond me. It's going in again in October and I think a bit of table thumping will be the next step, well mannered of course.

I wonder if it's the battery in the TCU losing charge? There's a theory that it only gets recharged when the car is being driven, so if you don't use the car much it could cause problems.

Thanks for that scm 👍, it’s our daily so used most days, all be it a short trip into town & back ( 12miles round trip) but we recently went to Devon and back
( 225 miles ) and the amber warning didn’t come on ,
So your theory is plausible 😉

Mine does this, however it doesn't get used daily and when it does it goes off. But reappears.
The battery is about £20 and is and easy fit, which I plan to try. I just don't seem to get some to it.

I had this, drove me crazy kept coming back even after fitting new TCU battery,
I tracked it down to a rusty connection inside the roof antenna,,,,,,cleaned it up and i haven't seen the fault since.
I did swap the original TCU battery back in....there was nothing wrong with it

Change the battery, part no T2R23864 buy direct from Jaguar was £13.77 + vat a couple of months ago. Will take you less than 10mins to fit. Be aware the small self tapping screw holding the battery cover in place has a torx head and just ensure you place something suitable below to stop it dropping into metal frame below, I used some masking tape. Here is a video to guide you through it.

Update: I’ve had a quote from a Jaguar specialist
to replace the battery, do the required download and check. The Battery costs approx £16…..
Fitted & tested is £290.

Buy the battery and fit it yourself! Then treat yourself with the rest of the £290! :D
