SOS battery location and replacement

I replaced mine but the sos fault kept coming back. It turned out I had a fault on the Ariel got it replaced under warranty sorted.

Yes, it just unclips, do one corner at a time. I only know because I previously thread my android auto cable behind it to the netted pouch.

Unclips and then lifts up (as I realised when I tried to refit it!). Just a Torx bit to undo the battery holder (can't remember the size, sorry) and then unplug, swap over the battery, replug and refit.

Just to jump into this thread. I'm having the same issues.

My car is in for service and MOT this week at the main dealer, so I thought I'd query how much it'd be for them to do it whilst they were already working on it.

I nearly fell off my chair:
- £300 for diagnosis as they can't be sure that this is the issue. Fair enough that they don't know for sure, but I didn't want that doing and they refuse to replace without diagnostics. Plus this is the cheapest way to rule out other faults.
- If it is the Telematics battery, they estimate 4 hours work, so approx £1,000 for parts and labour!

I'll pop to their parts department whilst I'm there and do it myself at home.

What dealer is that? I’d be having a word with their GM and ask them to explain themselves as that is tantamount to sharp practice quoting you such an absurd sum to replace the battery.

Agreed. If you ask them to change the battery they can't charge a diagnostic fee as you're not asking whether it needs changing, you just want it done. Anyway, 5 minutes at home is all it takes.

I was surprised as the dealer, Lookers Buckinghamshire, have previously been pretty good. Will certainly be asking to speak to the Service Manager for them to justify this quote when I'm there this week.

They refused to change the battery without doing a diagnostic!

Fitted a replacement battery yesterday, 5 minutes including the service reset (via the roof mounted button) . Bare in mind you will need a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the small screw holding the battery compartment cover, I used a trim removal tool for the cover between the seats. Easy and £25 job done.
