Someone’s having a laugh!!

So I’ve still got an F-Type itch that needs scratching so thought I’d have a look at what’s available and found one below local to me in Derby.

As I’m a suspicious and thorough kind of person I thought I’d check what WBAC would give me if I owned the exact same car. Shocked is an understatement!!!

So who is taking us customers for the bigger ride? Obviously I’m not obliged to use either company but something is extremely out of kilter in the car market currently and is almost subject to manipulation by the big players.

Think I’ll just have to stick with my F-Pace for the time being until things even themselves out.

Well, I guess it's supply and demand. WBAC don't want it as they cannot sell it on and the dealer has it in stock and reluctant to be realistic and mark down, no doubt to a book loss. Pretty big variances though

I have some very recent experience of Inchcape as I was looking to buy a RR Velar with my daughter and that's my closest dealer. Inchcape we stupidly over reasonable on their pricing and would not negotiate. Went to another JLR dealer in B'ham and picked up a lower mileage, 6 months newer, fully loaded HSE vs SE, etc. for £5k less. Realistically the package was £10k less between the dealers. Pays to do homework

Book price is 37,280 so yes it's over priced and yes WBAC will always be lower.

SimpleR, where do you get the “book price” from?

Appreciate WBAC will always be lower but wasn’t the perceived wisdom when pricing you car privately to go WBAC plus 10%? Would still be a marked differential from dealer price etc.

Anyway will just have to keep watching the market.

Autotrader and Jaguar used approved averages.
It is car 65721 and only has a PDI record and 631 days overdue 1st service. (It was not a Paragon Fleet Solutions car even though it is on an "O" plate).

A car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, so when one comes along that floats your boat, you have a decision to make. ;)

I’m currently in a similar position having been to look at two P300 2019 models. I think those dealers who have bought high in the height of the market and have been unable to offload quickly are now refusing to budge on pricing due to potential losses on it. I eventually pulled out of one yesterday as they refused to reduce the price even an inch despite having three large chips in the bumper which they say they have “factored into the price”…

WEBAC today offered me, very kindly, over £29,000 for my November 2016 33,000 miles registered MY17 V6S RWD Coupe so maybe you tried them on a bad day!!
You could try asking on this site if anyone wants to sell.

Yeah maybe. I’m in no rush and fortunately buying a car like an F-Type is more a luxury or whim rather than a necessity so I can sit things out for while and see what comes along.

They're all chancers. We buy any bike offered me £3k for my bike but similar bikes in dealers advertised for around £9k.

Wouldn’t say chancers. Just their business model. Almost all their stock, they own BCA, goes under the hammer. It then ends up on forecourts or online dealers etc.

Lots of genuine stuff but you can imagine the crap that gets offloaded 😄 Why I always urge caution, buying a highly strung F-Type, through a high street forecourt. Recently uncovered a couple of horrors some poor unsuspecting buyer will end up with 👎

I had a quotation from we buy any car.com for my 10,000 mile 2016 380S of £31,000
Jaguar UK online quoted me £31k to £34k depending on condition. I actually got £34k for it against a 2,000 mile 2021 P450 first Edition
