Some very basic questions about Android Auto and InControl

Hello,

My first post and new to F-Type ownership so apologies if these are daft questions.

I recently bought a '21 p300. I have registered an InControl account, which shows subscriptions for connected navigation pro, online pack and remote.

I think the app is working, as it shows where the car is, fuel level etc.

How do I get the navigation and online pack to work? I'm assuming neither are active, as whilst I can use nav it says "traffic info not available."

The handbook is extremely vague. Having looked online, there is reference to needing a SIM in the car? There is also mention of pressing the 'spanner' button on the overhead console until it flashes slowly. I've done that. Both that and the sos button illuminated but were off next time I used the car.

On a related note, I don't understand how to get Android Auto to work. In most cars, it seems you link the phone via Bluetooth and it just starts. Not here. I tried going into the Android settings on the touchscreen but it says "connect a compatible device." The thing is, I definitely have as it lets me stream Spotify (albeit in a really basic way, not like Android Auto in other cars.)

I'd be really grateful for any pointers.

First of all welcome! Let's see some pics of the new pride and joy. :)

Regarding the traffic info in the built in nav you have to have a data sim card in the car and purchase a map subscription from Here which is rather rubbish and utterly over priced. You basically just get map updates and not very useful live traffic data which is much worse that e.g. google's. It' just put a sim in the car but not waste your money on Here's data. What's odd is that you can get live satellite view data in the built in nav even without a Here maps subscription, as long as you have a sim in the car.

When it comes to CarPlay/Android Auto it only works in wired mode, so you have to use a USB cable to make it work.

Thank you.

What about the online pack? How does that work?

I've tried plugging the phone into a USB. Doesn't seem to make any difference.
