Company may develop kit for F Type so who would be interested?
Looks really simple fit and non damaging bubble free
Link to Cayman which is only £75 for rear only and ours is smaller still
Thoughts?

I've been considering tinting my rear window and this sounds like a good solution so I'd be interested depending on how dark the tint is.

Not relevant to convertible owners like me but previously I have used a ceramic film that reflects heat very efficiently and can have whatever tint you like as well as being very thin and not requiring ‘installation strips’ . If installed properly there are no bubbles etc. If I had a coupe I would go for a film and not this thick sheeting but obviously personal choice.

Not a fan of after market but may have to go this way. Thought above would eliminate horrible grey 'halo' effect, more visible elements and possible damage if needed removal for bubbling.
Another avenue I’m researching is headlight tinted film on the outside. If works would look factory. Can’t see why won’t work as designed for exterior. Should be simple fit

Why would anybody put a tinted film on the headlights and reduce the lighting efficiency ?

I guess it's because the owner thinks it looks cool, irrespective of the safety aspect. Not my cup of tea I'll admit.

I would assume, in this instance however, Pacemaker is referring to using that type of film on the rear window, not on the headlights.

Every time I stop and think "I should have gone for the tinted rear glass" I remember that I have to reverse down a narrow drive and need all the visibility I can get, especially in the dark. It still amuses me that the first time I went to reverse back, in the rain, I instinctively tried to turn the wiper stalk to engage the rear wiper .....

Sorry should have said I was considering headlight tint but on outside of the rear screen. It is designed for external use unlike standard film.
Also, anybody noticed visibility through rear screen is distorted due to steep angle?

Never noticed any distortion - I'll have to check carefully next time. ;)

Just checked, no noticeable distortion at all, although I can't see through the bottom edge of the window as my spoiler is in the way. What sort of distortion are you getting?

Never noticed any distortion here either, maybe because I mainly use the rear screen for quick glances through the rear view mirror and use the camera whenever I need to look carefully what's going on behind.

If you pacemaker have an early car and have a distorted rear view it could also be that it's one of the many things that were improved over the years.

Headlight tint on the outside of the rear screen sounds pretty interesting too btw although I wonder if it's as efficient in reflecting heat as an interior tint or solarplexius screen.

Not sure why you need solar film, we live in the uk and dont have enough days sun for it to really work lol
Just fit normal tinted film and will work just as well.
I have an early car had it for 7 years and never noticed distortion looking through the rear screen.

Want it only for aesthetics really.
This system will allow for easy removal. Have heard horror stories of film bubbling and needing removing and taking elements off with it. Plus you don’t get the ‘halo' and raised effects over elements.

Well I live in a somewhat sunnier place than the UK and usually make quite a few road trips, mostly to southern France and Italy. In my case it's both about aesthetics and sun/heat blocking.

Just wanted to mention that I've also been in touch with Solarplexius. They seem to be happy to produce blinds for the F-Type if they only can get hold of an F-Type or a template. They suggested I make a template of my rear screen and send to them.

I actually usually pass by the city in Sweden where they are located at least once a year but am not planning to take my F-Type up there and don't think the results would be good if I made and sent them a template myself. Might get in touch with the Swedish Jaguar club to check if any F-Type owner in Sweden would be interested to pass by them to get measurements properly done.

The Jag dealer in that city seems to be on the other side of the city.

I read up a bit more on these on some Swedish car forums where people have used them for ages. The views are pretty mixed and many seem to report issues like bad/loose fit, rattles, scratches when installing and condensation and dust between the screen and the glass. They also seem to look brownish from the inside and block the view from the inside more than a tint. As a whole they appear to have quite a few disadvantages to conventional tint. That wouldn't work with the OCD I have with my pride and joy so I think I'll give this kit a pass.

A pic that someone posted, showing the colour from the inside...
