All,

Looking at buying an Ftype r.. and very close to saying yes. It's rwd 2014 model..but great miles and great price.

Looking at its pictures I thought something was different and couldn't clock it.. however was there 2 options on painted side skirts vs a black one?

I pref the white all over.. I wonder if I can wrap or paint the black...

You can easily remove the sills complete with skirts then detach the skirts from the sills as they are just held together with 6 torx bolts. That makes it easy to respray.
I'm sure they could also be wrapped in situ.

A lot of folk on the US forum prefer the black as they say the white makes it look "porky" (and I don't like a Porsche!). The black is apparently "slimming". That said, I'm quite happy with my white sills.

Just had a set painted/fitted. Purchased from eBay in white & had them changed to piano gloss black! Usually a set available on there…

Did mull over white/black & decided black. Prefer the contrast & tie in with other gloss black bits on car. Plus it does keep slim look.

Personally would always paint rather than wrap. Especially exposed areas to chips, stones & getting caught through washing etc.

Spent yesterday applying PPF to newly painted areas. Purchased pre-cut sections. Mainly the front/rear of sills. Bit of a learning curve but happy with results. Tip; Do it on a day less windy!

I would like to buy a pair, and have them carbon wrapped and fitted. Any advise on who to buy from?

Bob,

It’s perhaps worth pointing out that there are at least 3 or 4 different designs of sideskirt across years and derivatives.
I opted for the 400 series as correct for a V6 but had a better profile. All fit all models. With just a single locator peg. At the rear..

It’s very tricky to template the skirt to the sill to drill through the sill to the exact correct point for each of the 5 or 6 torx.

I purchased from dealer inc the torx as the local body shop would have spent more on prep and repairs than thenincremental cost of brand new in factory primer and always the risk of old underlying colour showing through any chips.
Weight that is up against what you can find on eBay.

Compare these on mine to the previous photos:

Ah that's the bit of info I was wanting, I think I quite like white chunky skirts over the black.. the one I am looking at has the black... I was trying to see ill do some googling the variations.

Cheers
