Shake when braking hard

Hi to you all I am new on here, so I'm slowly finding my feet.

I have just purchased an f type 68 plate 30k on the clock, and when I brake hard I get vibration on the steering wheel...any idea's

I wonder if it needs new discs

It could be a number of things. It may need new discs or wheel tracking/alignment is off. Have the pads been replaced recently?

If you have just purchased it and it has a fault, then return it to where you purchased it from for them to resolve.

Vibration through the wheel whilst braking would more than likely be warped discs. If you were getting vibration driving at speed then it would be a wheel balance issue

Welcome.
If you purchased from a dealer, then as posted above return to the dealer and get them to fix it. It’s covered by consumer law even if you have no warranty.
Disks are a possible cause but they rarely warp. Most likely pad deposits on the surface. Before going to the expense of replacing them run a series of cleaning cycles.
Find a long clear empty piece of road. Accelerate to 60 and brake hard but steadily to almost a stop but don’t stop then back to 60, repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 times, then drive for a while without braking to cool the disks. That will clear pad deposits off the disks.
If it doesn’t then start a diagnosis of disks, loose or damaged suspension, tracking out, wheels not balance, tyre pressures different, etc.

Have a read of this for more insight:

Thank you all so much for the advice the dealer has replaced disc's and pads and sensors...fantastic news its not shaking ....so thanks guys

Great result. No so painful to replace items when dealer is paying.
Just remember to never sit on the brakes at lights or islands if the disks are hot or you’ll soon have it back..

That vibration on the steering wheel when you brake hard sounds like it could indeed be an issue with the discs. It's a common symptom of warped or worn brake discs.

Sound advice and something that’s often overlooked in automatic cars. 👍

That's why I use the EPB at stops. It also avoids dazzling the following car at night.
