Service plans

Car is in for a service soon. This one is a freebie due to delay on delivery of car when I bought.

Wondering if to get on some sort of fixed price service plan for the future. I know nothing about these, even whether such a thing exists and will phone to ask this week.

Just wondered if anybody had had any good or bad experience with a service plan, are there any savings to me made ?, is the risk that you sign up for three years then lose out if you then decide to sell the car earlier ? etc.
 
I’ve bought a three year service plan at £960, so £320 per service. The good points are it’s inflation proof and it takes away the hassle. I suppose if you went to an Indy you may get it cheaper, but it may affect your warranty if not serviced with Jaguar genuine parts.
My previous car ( BMW) cost £375 for an annual service, and when a mysterious bulge in my rear tyre was pointed out, they quoted £330 for a new ( run flat tyre), I went local and got it at £175.

Do you pay the £960 up front and then lose part of it if you don't own the car through all three services ?
 
You can pay outright or monthly at £28 for 30 months ( no APR )
The plan is with the car, so if you decide to sell within the three years, you just “ sell it “ on

Mine is every 16,000 miles, or annually regardless of mileage. I wouldn't consider buying one that had missed an annual service.

Anybody else heard of an Ftype only needing a service once every two years ? Wouldn't mind saving several hundered pounds every other year, but from what I've seen so far you need to fork out annually (?)
 
On another forum many moons ago I read of someone whose XF was coming up to 12,000 miles so was being booked in for its first service - he'd had the car 4 years! :o
 
As far as I am aware all F-Types are 16000 miles or 1yr whichever occurs first. I've just checked a new MY21 P300 and that is as above.

You can go over by 2 months OR 2000 miles without affecting warranty.

same as our petrol evoque .

My previous car, XE P250, ( which has the same engine in the F type P300) was scheduled to be serviced every TW0 years or 21K covered.
Strange that the same engine has different servicing requirements depending on which car it in?🤔

F-Type P300

Service at 16,000 miles or 12 months

Odd how F-type with same P300 engine differs to the XE.
 
When buying my V6S I insisted that a 3 year Service Plan being thrown in with the deal as an extra...so as far as I was concerned the next three years of Service were free. If I had sold the car the service plan could have been transferred to the new owner.
Like most others, I would not consider purchasing one of these cars without a full-service record.

Coming from Porsche and was hoping to save money but even they do 2 year intervals.
Certainly a ripoff for the P300 compared to other jags with same engine. Kinda expect it on V8 cars
 
It is an old conversation but an ever source of frustration about the service ‘requirements’ Jaguar imposes. I bought a 2016 V6S with only 7k miles and came with a yearly service history.
I get that there will be perishable elements on the car that time rather than mileage will require replacement and the ‘whichever comes first’ part but for a car with such low mileage the fact it has now had 5 services shows how much money can be spent - always disturbed by the fact that the breakdown of the service shows that topping up of fluid wash (excluding labour!) costs £5 for the water alone.... guessing it was personally blessed by the Pope. Interesting that the last service quote for Stratstones shows labour is now £220 an hour ....guess the Pope is actually doing a few shifts for JLR.

If you're used to paying Porsche prices you will save money with the F-Type. ;)

I had service plans in place on both my previous XE's, and the 2018 registered XE 300 Sport was on a 12 monthly service as detailed in its specifications.

What!? Different 300's with different service schedules as well?
What was the reg of XE 300 sport with a 12month/16000 schedule?
 
It was on my personal reg, as fitted now on the F Type. Not sure what plate the 300 Sport is on now.

Just checked your car again and still says 1yr/16000 miles so now presuming later XE's P300/P250 etc changed from 1yr/16000 to 2yr/21000 at some point?
Which does beg the question why XE and F-Type (and seems Land Rover range as well) are different.
