Sorry about bringing up a topic that’s been visited numerous times.

Does anyone know when the seat module swapped over (believe there are two versions)?

I have a 2018 with the base model seats which are truly awful I find with a lack of lumbar support.

I have tracked down a set a performance seats (believe they are at least) but to my untrained view they look early as they don't have the aluminium centre, and would like to not chop wiring.

On a side note has anyone had their f type wrapped? I couldn’t find a BRG when I was looking so brought white.

Hello OllyH. My base seats were replaced with a set of performance seat same as in your photo.

Seats are VIN sensitive. Whoever carries out the work will remove your base seat module & put it in your new seats. Your car needs to think the original seats are still fitted.

My performance seats were the same functionality as my original base ones. You may come across issues if the functionality is different.

Another member C10jeepers is very knowledgeable on this topic. Have a search on similar posts where he has posted.

Have seen quite a few wrapped F-Types. Have a look on the FB F-Type Owners Club page. There are two. One is UK & another mainly US. Search for Peter Nichols posts. It won’t be difficult to find!

I was planning to complete the swap myself are does the module need to be coded / or in a weird and wonderful position?

Just to confirm, yes those are old pre-facelift performance seats. They look really nice with the alcantara.
 
I’ve taken a picture of the underneath of my seats, I was surprised to see they are just a foam base.

Anyway the connectors look different, also see a non connected motor which I am guessing does front pitch when optioned.

My seats just have 2 way adjustment, do the pre facelift seats come with different options?

Probably can't help too much here, but the easy part is sourcing some seats that you want based on colour and style. The hard part is getting them to work, with so many variants and Jaguar not making life easy by many changes of plug and loom wiring, usually to protect people from themselves.

There are:
Multiple variations of amount of motor adjustments from 2 to 14, and memory function, with matching variations of the door switches.
Standard and sport variants.
Heated with pads, heat / cool with peltier module and unheated
Pre and facelift (slim) seats

I've managed to swap on some Jaguars, notably an XF by swapping the module across to the new seats and forgoing some extra features the 'upgrades' had. I've also done it by stripping seats down and in effect rebuilding them with the exchange original parts like the squab and backrest from the new seats in the old frames. Believe me a real pita, but more of a project that becomes a challenge of, I will make this work...

Daddy Darren is right that for simplicity you have to make the car think it has the original seats, so best way is to either seek out same age and swap the modules and just forgo any extra features the seat may have
Avoid any dramatic change such as heat pads for peltier heat/cool as the software won't accept it.

Best bet is to sit the new and old seats side by side out of the car and just do some cross matching to see what you have. Remember that once you have disconnected the loom from the seat don't turn on the ignition else you'll trigger an airbag warning due to the seatbelt tensioner missing. Easy to clear with basics diagnostic kit, but something to be aware of.

Failing this you need to find one of the few expert companies who can make software and wiring changes to make them work and expect a big bill
