Roof Problems

Hi All, <div><br></div><div>I wanted to ask if anyone else has faced this problem with their soft top roof? The fabric is starting to fray at the edge of were the roof meets the rear window. The local dealership have said it will be fixed under warranty (The car is still to go in), but I wonder what it will require? Gosh thats bad. I'd imagine the whole roof unit will be replaced - its one big mechanism and fitting. To be honest id insist on it.<div>Does it spend a lot of time in the sun over there? Maybe that has weakened the material.<br><div><br></div><div>It looks like the hood was a bad one and has been rubbing inside when opening. I'll have a look at mine and see if I've got wear marks but i don't think i have.</div></div>
 
Boo :( Jetwashed too hard maybe? I managed to do that to some outdoor furniture and looked v similar.
 
I've only had the car 6 weeks and it was nowhere near as bad as this. I've noticed that the more I've used the roof the worse its got. Its definitely rubbing somewhere. I keep the car in a shaded garage at home and in a basement carpark when at work, however the 1st owner may have exposed to it to sun a lot more. <div><br></div><div>I did fear it being a big job. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley6.gif" border="0" alt="Unhappy" title="Unhappy" /></div>

<div><br></div><div>I don't think its that bad to be honest as its a whole unit that unbolts and then they slot the new one in. Ive seen them do it on videos of the production line. I guess then its a case of alignment so it shuts and seals properly, but at least it should be all new.</div>

That's unlucky. Thank goodness for warranty.<br><br>It would be interesting to find out whether they just unbolt the whole roof and put a new one on or or just remove the 'skin'.<br><br>When you get the car back, get a hose pipe and spray around all the edges and seals...just to make sure it's watertight....just for additional piece of mind.<br><br>Let us all know how you get on.<br>

The local dealer has confirmed that they will be replacing the whole roof under warranty (not just the skin). </div><div><br></div><div>Will be finding out soon how long it will take before the part(s) get here. (From UK to Dubai). I have a feeling its going to take ages, I am just glad that they have accepted it as a warranty job.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks</div>
