Road Tax

I'm in the market for an F type either the 2L or the v6. As part of information gathering I'm looking at road tax cost, and getting different answers wherever I look. So I'm wondering if someone on here can give me a positive answer. The car will be between a 2015 and 2019 model. Thanks in advance.

Different models and different years attract different rates.

Thanks for your input guys. I'm now even more confused. Your comments: A 2016 P380 costs £395 and a 2019 is £190 What the difference between the 2 cars?

The difference is that the rates changed for March 2017 registered cars. The "luxury" supplement (cars costing more than £40k) expires after 6 years, I think.

My V8 was £190 on last renewal, too. :)

Any F-Type of any engine size registered after 1 April 2017 pays the same tax - currently £190 per year.

However, F-Types under five years old (so currently those registered between Dec 2019 and Dec 2024) are liable for a premium vehicle surcharge which takes the tax up to approx £600 a year. When the car turns five years old, this stops and you revert to just paying the basic rate (currently £190).

F-Types registered before Apr 2017 are taxed on their emissions, which vary from model to model.

This breaks it down further...

So the 2019 model will probably be a cheaper tax rate than the 2015 due to the changes mentioned above.

as Yorkshire sam says my May 2019 car will loose the premium vehicle surcharge in May 2025 as the first year of vehicle tax was set by the vehicle emissions at sale when new.

Your annual tax will be pro-rated down by the number of months affected by the excess charge.

I guess that is better for me then?

Every little helps, as they say! ;)
