Rear Diff oil and SVH

Hello All,

Looking at a 2018 380 R (RWD) used approve from JLR, will full JLR SVH and 29k on the clock. It has had its 60 month service. There's no recording off the rear diff oil change at 48 months or any other time. SVH only shows "Renewal of Oil and Oil Filter"

Should the SVH explicitly show the rear diff oil change?

Does it apply to both RWD and AWD?

Should I insist its done as part of the purchase?

Wondering if @SimpleR may have some guidance!

Thanks
AC

If you know the VIN you can go to http://osh.jaguar.com and check the service history, and also see the service schedules applicable to the car. That should give you some negotiating power.

I did that which precisely doesn't display any record of the rear diff oil... I'm not sure if it should or not explicitly.

Yes, it should list this explicitly on the SH. Make it a condition of sale that they do it. I did with mine and they had no issue in renewing the diff oil.

My 3.0 V6 MY 2014 specifically states it depending if open or locking. Mine is the S so locking and I did it at 96 months
From OSH site my specific car:
96 months / 128k Locking Diff
120 months / 160k Open Diff
It's not listed as a requirement in earlier services

I imagine on a few years later model it will be the same for a RWD, so suggest in the OSH look at the future services to see if it shows at 96 months.
Unless it's listed as due or overdue you'll be lucky to get much traction to get it done unless negotiated as a part of the wider deal

Thanks all it, says in the service schedule 48months for locking diff.

How do I know if it's a locking diff? MY19 380 R dynamic rwd.

If it's an S which you indicate by saying it's '380', then it's locking.

Yes every 4 years for rear diff and 9 years for front diff if AWD.

The transfer box oil only "Renew the automatic transmission oil and filter" shows only at 108months / 144000 miles on the service schedule for the V6.

Is there a Jaguar bulletin I can refer to, to encourage the dealer to do it - if its stated?

Is there anywhere I can check the spec of the car for LSD vs locking diff? I am unsure if a MY19 V6 380 is the same as a V6S. Reg is OV18 XUJ on the Jag used approved website.

AFAIK the 380BHP version of the V6 has a locking diff. The 340 BHP version doesn't.

The V6S is the same engine as used in the 380.

ta - have you had your transmission oil done? see yours is a 2018 - which I think could be the same as the one I'm looking at.

Transfer case, if AWD is every 3 years (unsure on RWD).

Gearbox/transmission oil is supposed to be filled for life and does not appear on the first 10 years of Jaguar servicing however ZF say otherwise.

It appears on my 9 year/144000 mile service schedule: "Renew the automatic transmission oil and filter." A bit beyond the 60,000 or so that ZF recommends, though, not that mine will be anywhere near that at 9 years!

Your not wrong! Explains why it says £1605 at main dealer which doesn't actually seem that bad consider the transmission is £500+ and then belts, normal service, transfer case and front diff.

Renew engine oil and filter.
Renew brake fluid.
Replace supercharger drive belt.
Replace front accessory drive belt.
Renew the automatic transmission oil and filter.
Renew transfer box oil.
Renew front differential oil.

Thanks all for input. Dealer wasn't forthcoming in rectifying... Sold to someone else.

Hope whoever purchased, discovers sooner than later that it likely needs doing! Enjoy.
