R-AWD front brake pads

Hi all,

I have a 2015 F-Type R AWD with carbon ceramic brakes.

At a recent main dealer service they informed me the front pads are worn and will soon be needing replacement, and quoted me £1600 for the job as I have the ceramic disks.

A friend recommended a company EBC to me as a good after market brake supplier.

I selected the model and made sure it was for my R-AWD on their site and they have said the following:

https://www.ebcbrakeshop.co.uk/ebc-yellowstuff-brake-pads-dp42191r_p31343067.htm

Are the right brakes for the car. Obviously a huge saving, so much so I wanted to check with more knowledgeable people than myself as to whether these are suitable for the car - it doesn’t mention ceramic anywhere and I just wanted to be sure these are a fine option as opposed to forking out 10x the money on official Jaguar ones from the main dealers.

Thanks for any advice!

EBC are a good aftermarket brake supplier but the pads shown in your link are not the correct ones for your car’s carbon ceramic braking (CCB) system. They are suitable for my own car’s high performance braking system (non CCB).

The Jaguar part number you require for the pads is T2R11420 and here’s a few links to them....

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-T2R11420

https://www.jaguarparts.com/oem-parts/jaguar-brake-pads-front-t2r11420

You will see the pads look different to those in the EBC link you posted.

Here's some good info on the F-Type CCB wear (including new and minimum brake disc weight & thickness, new and min pad thickness etc).....https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/carbon-ceramic-brakes-shot-9-000-miles-208763/

Thanks for the advice so far, looks like I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get the official jaguar ones.

The car has done 60k miles, it’s just the pads that are worn and need replacing not the discs thank god.

Although the main dealer informed you that the front brake pads are worn and will soon be needing replacement, did they inform you what the current pad material thickness is?

In the link I posted earlier https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/carbon-ceramic-brakes-shot-9-000-miles-208763/ it shows the carbon-ceramic braking system pad specifications to be:

Front brake pad nominal thickness 14.25 mm (0.55 in)
Front brake pad material minimum thickness 3 mm (0.118 in)

If the pads are worn enough then unfortunately it seems that way.

With regards to the discs (rotors), this is taken from the same link I posted earlier....

"It is different for the CCM brakes, from memory the pads wear 10 times quicker than the rotors and the rotors are essentially "for life".

I remember someone saying that brembo made pads for our carbon brakes

The Brembo website https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en doesn’t list brake pads for the OP’s 2015 F-Type R AWD with carbon-ceramic brake discs. Also, it allows you to input the Jaguar OEM part number for the pads (T2R11420) and after doing so it says “No products found”.

Main dealers have a habit of exaggerating the urgency of needing to replace consumables (pads, disks, tyres, etc.) Nice revenue add-one and good earners for them.

I’d double check the wear and see how soon you really need them. Given your mileage, actual wear and longevity of cc brakes it could easily be a year or more.

Hence the reason for this....
