Hi guys I'm trying to find a 2014 coupe with active exhaust for 35k but I'm struggling..anyone have experience of the quicksilver exhaust is it better than jaguars active exhaust? I'm finding some coupes cheaper than 35k but they don't have the active exhaust which is important for me..any advice appreciated

I guess it depends on your definition of better ;)

I was once looking at the QS exhaust buts it's not active so it's on ALL the time and its louder than the standard active exhaust, so if you ever use a motorway, you will to want to bring ear plugs to drown out the drone, so I'm told.
I want to retain the valve control so QS is off my list. It's also just the box and doesn't really over any other incentive other than volume.

Don't get me wrong - I want mine loud as hell, but I want to be able to control when its gets to that volume, especially with a lot of motorway/long distance GT driving!

Oh and QS don't offer black tips ;) That is on my want list too.

Hmmm I don't think I'd be too worried about switching it off..I've just come from a 370z with a cobra system so am fairly used to it..was just an option I was considering. Is the QS louder that the active system on loud?

I have a lot of info on the upgrade and a list of the parts required including the switch. I have the exhaust and the vacuum pump that operates the valves (this goes in the passenger rear wheel arch) As I understand it the other bits you need are the vacuum line and switch for which I have part numbers and prices & where to get them

This is worth a look: https://shop.strato.de/epages/62413452.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62413452/Products/T2R14178U

And this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/szc3vze5olrcol9/active_exhaust.pdf?dl=0

I'd accept £550 for the bits I have (Exhaust & Pump)

Good luck car hunting, you will not regret going for an F Type!

Purely by chance I stumbled across this on YouTube today

I have no idea who this guy is but he has the QS exhaust fitted and is complaining about exactly thee thing I was concerned about- constant drone.

He doesn't really sound like a car guy though so maybe that's more annoying to him than it would be to us

For me the active exhaust in loud is plenty loud enough, any louder would be too much especially if it was all the time!

I though the only thing the switch did was let you open the valves at lower revs and when in normal driving mode. My understanding is that in dynamic the active exhaust is always on (open) and it also opens above 4500rpm regardless of driving mode.

I do have the switch and it's the first thing I press after starting the engine but could you not do the same thing by just putting it in dynamic mode? Or have I misunderstood how it works?

Dezzy,

That's my understanding, and for this reason I didn't spec the button. When I want loud I put it in Dynamic. However the OP is looking for a pre 16 model when I think the base models didn't have active exhaust at all so would need a whole system with valves etc to upgrade.

From research yes that's how it is I think.. and yep I need the active exhaust which I'm surprised I'm struggling to find in my budget been looking for about 1 month now [emoji17]
