Purchasing help and how to identify F-type options from pictures?

Are non-Jaguar dealers (like this one) able to source the full spec sheet or not? I don't want to give them a hard time if they can't...

Dealers are effing clueless when it comes to specs in ads. Especially non-Jag dealers. Jag dealers often also have incorrect info. Never trust what it says in the ads and do your own proper due diligence, just like you are.

Topix used to be free for build specs which came in very handy for the purchase of my two previous jags. They should now at least have integrated it with all the other info on the online service history site. Don't know what it costs now but maybe you can buy some limited access to get build specs. Otherwise if you get a car's VIN you could try to send it to JLR's customer service to get the build spec.

I recently paid about £38 for 24 hours access to Topix when I was in the process of purchasing mine, I find it quite frustrating that they have hidden everything behind the pay wall.

Thank you both, I guess it's best to buy a 24 hour access to Topix and check 3 or 4 cars to be absolutely sure. I just need to collect the VIN numbers first.

Right now I'm pondering whether I should make an offer to the dealers now or wait six months until the dead of winter in hope that prices will be lower then. Any wise thoughts?

The prices will likely be more or less lower in six months but I personally doubt there'd be any huge price differences on these cars.

I'd say it's a matter of finding the right car and then going for it... how long do you want to wait to enjoy an F-Type? I don't know where on the continent you live but if you get one soon you could have months of nice driving enjoyment ahead of you before winter conditions kick in... or wait until the spring.

I got mine a couple of months earlier than I initially intended because this unicorn example with this perfect and very rare spec popped up and it felt extremely unlikely that anything similar would come up again.

Me and my wife decided to get a convertible that's why I hope the price of convertibles will be lower in the winter. If that's the case, we can wait patiently few more months. I wonder when are prices of convertibles starting to rise. Is it March, is it April, May?

BTW, there is one SVR available in Germany for the same price as R models but wife doesn't like the non retractable spoiler, it makes the car to manly for her to drive. Can that spoiler be replaced with a retractable one from the R model? That one is nicely tucked away until 120 km/h...

Yes - certainly possible, but might be expensive . I believe it was a (rare) option on SVR to go for the retractable spoiler.
I suspect most SVR customers like the spoiler as it’s a unique feature of the SVR.

As expected, prices have fallen about 10 % since August so time is nigh to make a decision.

Even though me and the wifey strongly dislike the new front end on 2020+ cars, we like some of the new trim like matrix headlights so the facelifted model is not completely out of the picture....

Can owners of the facelifted model please tell us whether Android Auto/Google Maps can be displayed on the right side of the instrument panel screen as depicted iin the attached picture? I assume the map in the picture is car's stock navi and not Android Auto... Cheers!

I have a MY21 and use the map in the centre of the dash display between two dials, this doesn’t use the Apple CarPlay map that is available on the 10” screen, so I believe the answer is no.

Apparently the front end was re-designed to make the car look more aggressive to complete with the germans.
I thought the F-type was supposed to be a modern re-make of the E-type, I guess they forgot. Ian Callum had left the company by that point.

Unfortunately, not true. The facelift design work was carried out under Ian Callum's tenure. Even relatively small changes take a long time to go from concept into production.

Couple of questions:

1. Is there a difference in the exhaust/engine/induction/any noise between P450 and P575? Are all exhaust and engine parts the same between the two? If they are, logic would say that the noise level is the same as well but I'm not sure. They even weigh the same to the last kg. Has anyone been lucky to try/hear both?

2. How do you visually differentiate between RWD and AWD on the P450 model? On the old model the bonnet vents were lower and more apart in the AWD version but I'm not sure this is the case anymore. Cheers!

Could be the ability to remote start the car via the Jaguar Remote app? Secure Tracker and Remote Premium are separate subscriptions, and presumably require different hardware in the vehicle.

Thanks, it might be. So far I've checked 6 cars in Topix and 5 of them have this minor feature as Topix calls them.

Seems like an easy one. Except this badge is optional and many owners decide to delete it when configuring the new car for some reason.

BTW, what is the consensus on an upgraded 770w Meridian system? Much better compared to the 380w system?

I looked through all of the V8s on Autotrader to find a pic and only 2 were debadged out of nearly 30 so you're more likely to see the AWD badge than not.

This might actually depend on the market though. I get the impression that you guys in the UK are much more fond of badges than elsewhere in the world and on the continental, especially German, market where the OP is looking there may well be more debadged cars.

No AWD badge on my MY18 and it wasn't debadged, it was never there.

yup, from the four AWD cars I have my eyes on currently, two of them have no AWD badge.

It's really funny how there is no 100 % way of telling them apart.
