We have finally taken delivery, should had been on Thursday but the dealer discovered a nasty scratch on the windscreen so he lent us a V8 for a couple of days. The power was incredible, it was like being shot out of a catapult! It did however feel a bit on the heavy side for a sports car but I couldn't help wondering if I would still like the V6. I needn't have worried, it feels almost as fast, makes more noise and handles even better, more suited to our local roads. Both very special cars though. I was surprised how much room it takes up in the garage, I knew it wasn't a small car but it is like when you buy furniture, it alway looks bigger than you remember it in the showroom when you get it home. Overall very happy, it has been a long wait but well worth it.<br />Steve. 😀<edited><editID>steveh</editID><editDate>2016-04-10 09:28:24</editDate></edited>

That's good to know Steve. Shame about the windscreen. <div><br></div><div>I think a V8 on our UK roads would be a handful although I would like the exhaust to be even louder on the V6 (which I never thought I would say). She is a wide car and I'm conscious of the width on narrow country lanes. If you are going to garage the car then it's a real consideration before buying.<div><br></div><div>Good news: I'm surprised how much fun you can have up to 4,000 rpm whilst running her in. This mornings journey was fantastic with the windows down on some twisty B roads. </div></div>

Congrats on taking delivery Steveh! I know you'll enjoy it! Only recently joined the club myself and it's been one seriously quick month I can tell you!<div><br></div><div>Speaking of width I've had quite a few worrying moments slipping in and out of car parks lately. The F-Type is wide but I still wish they'd realise that all cars are generally speaking wider than a shopping trolley today..... </div>

Thank you, will try and put up some picture later. Yes it is a wide car, something I will have to get used too. I am always careful where I park in any car, prefer to walk than park in small spaces. I have read quite a lot about running cars in but when I asked about this on collecting the car was told it is not necessary anymore as that is done at the factory. Will take it easy for the first 1000 miles or so.<br />Steve.

Running in the engine is necessary. There is a whole section in the manual about it. My dealer was very careful to take me through it. Without it you may have engine issues later on.

Thanks East winger, will look it up. looks like you have the same as me, including big smile!<br>Steve.<br>

I agree with East Winger with running in the engine, regardless what your dealer had told you, with any new engine you need to ease in at first and besides, the manual does state to run in the engine. <div>In time Steveh you will enjoy the full force of your F-Type. </div>

Thanks gents, looked at handbook and noted running in procedure. Have done less than 100 miles so far and haven't exceeded 4000 rpm.
