Porsche defector says hi!

Hi,<div>I'm joining here to try and learn as much as I can before I get my F-type. I've got a 911 C4S and after many happy years I'm looking for something a little more....brutal. I test drove a 3.0 V6S and loved it; and am on the lookout for a V8 convertible. Fingers crossed I'll be joining the fold soon!</div>

Welcome Megatron. There is plenty of sole searching on this forum for the perfect combination. Test drive the different combinations and enjoy.<div><br></div><div>I have the 3.0 V6S AWD and it's fantastic for me, but for pure noise and drama the V8 is the Daddy !</div><div><br></div><div>Either way, I don't think you will be disappointed. </div>

It seems you've picked out the right car, as brutal seems fitting. They are all a bit hooligan when it comes to noise, but the V8 is the only car that sounds like Brian Blessed gargling rocks. Fantastic! Good luck with the search.<br>

thanks - the searching is part of the fun..but I'm picky and there don't seem to be many grey/blue/silver V8s around with a dark interior. Having said that I bet one pops up tomorrow!

Welcome aboard Megatron,<br><br>From on porsche defector to another... you won't be disappointed. <br><br>Either will having you grinning from ear to ear, but for shear brutality.... Get the V8!<br><br>And prepare to receive so much more attention than you ever did in the porker! <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><br><br><br>

Well, this site is full if Porsche defectors. I gave up my 997 and my Lotus Elise. I would'nt say the Jag is superior to either of them but it is totally different and certainly much more comfortable!

well i have to confess i have been unfaithful - dropped into the new Porsche dealership in Wolverhampton last night and tried out a new 911 carrera 4 s <div><br></div><div>the sales guy had put what seemed a great deal on the table and having never driven a porsche i thought i should give one a try. So here are some quick thoughts -</div><div><br></div><div>1) Car looks great and having the extra (albeit miniature) rear seats is a definite plus </div><div>2) Interior build quality is top notch - maybe even a cut above the jag - just </div><div><br></div><div>However -</div><div><br></div><div>1) There is just no drama from the exhaust (even with the sports exhaust on) - sounds ok from the outside but from in the cabin - very muted. Not a patch on my 340 F type - expected much more from such an expensive car.</div><div>2) Fabulous to drive - very solid and seemed more of a GT than my Jag </div><div>3) PDK paddles shifters - frankly not as quick as the Jag - yet every you tube video ive seen (and Ive watched 100's) bang on about how quick the PDK is. I noticed a definite gap between pulling to change up and the gear actually changing - once back in my jag i was reminded that the gear change is much quicker - even when not in dynamic - pull to change up and bang (and crackle) its changed - much more more fun.</div><div><br></div><div>Summary </div><div><br></div><div>Went straight from the Porsche garage to the Jag dealers in Wolvo and confessed - they seemed very keen to help rehabilitate by trying to sell me V8 AWD .....</div><div><br></div><div>Having wondered what life might be like with a different car - and having wondered what all the fuss about Porsche is all about and have to say I'm sticking with the Jag </div><div><br></div><div>Porsche clearly make fantastic cars - but I think the F type is just more about the drama and passion </div><div><br></div><div>Feels good to get that off my chest <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div>

Thanks for sharing that! Porsches just don't do it for me looks wise but I've always wondered if I'm missing out on other things. Good to hear I'm not!

After 5 months of ownership I've driven the F Type twice as much as my previous 911. I even drive it when it's raining! It's much more addictive. The exhaust note is childish but I'm in my second childhood now so who cares!

not yet - they dont have a V8 AWD demo so I'm waiting for them to get organised for me <div><br></div><div>I'm hoping to have it for a day (while mine is being serviced) so I'll update the forum with how I get on with it and with a comparison with the porsche - i have a feeling its going to be awesome <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div>
