Anyone had Xpel or Ventureshield installed yet? <div><br></div><div>Veering towards Jon in Cardiff with Xpel but pondering the cost vs respray ... </div>

Just had an email from Jon...he is on a mission to do an F-Type in XPEL in October - Wonder if the owner is on here?
<div><br></div><div>I'l keep you informed, but tbh, I need to have the paintwork 'flat' i.e. without any orangepeel before film goes on!</div>

Hi Tel,<div> </div><div>You planning on doing the orange peel removal yourself ? as you know where to come for advice <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" alt="Thumbs Up" title="Thumbs Up" /></div><div> </div><div>There only a couple of firms which offer the service in the UK, the best recommendation is KDS in Kent, but they want £3600 and the car for two weeks <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" /></div><div> </div><div>My advice would be to do it yourself and concentrate on the bonnet boot and top third of the doors, plus rear quarters, this would take around 70 hours and leave the lower doors and sills, as I do not think that it was worth while, due to the way that reflections and light fulls on the panels.</div><div> </div><div>Speak soon</div><div> </div><div>Jamie</div>

<div><br></div><div>That would be me :) Full frontal kit (ooo err missus).</div><div><br></div><div>I'd also flat the paintwork but the film itself has a very, very slight peel - unavoidable even though Xpel has the best backing paper and is the smoothest of all (except maybe SunTek but that is a lot thinner). I looked at loads of samples - shocking how uneven some are.</div><div><br></div><div>I am just waiting to hear from him the options for full wrapping the edges but will get it done 2nd week or so. I will be asking him to do a good one pass polish to get rid of the very few swirls but, as I know from my old XK, the film actually hides any slight imperfections really well. </div><div><br></div><div>After that, down to Weston Super Mare to have Gtechniq Crystal Serum applied to the rest of the paintwork - a product I will not even attempt as, if it goes wrong, it needs wet sanding!</div>

I have ventureshield installed, brilliant. I had half bonnet, sills, mirrors, headlights, full front bumper, rear bumper behind wheels, windscreen surround and full lower plastics around exhaust done professionally. Cost just over a grand and has paid for itself already IMO.<br />

The Orange Peel/Pain blemish issues are in the hands of JLR group that have accepted that there are 'issues' - so, I'm still waiting for feedback before I can proceed with a wrap.
<div><br></div><div>The gTechnic EXO V2 will have to come off, hopefully sort the flaws out, then wrap her up.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm not wholly sure which film to use yet, XPEL may be overkill, I'm not sure. </div><div><br></div><div>Look forward to hearing from you Bluebird, or even making an excuse to pop up from Dorset to see yours!</div>

<blockquote><span style="line-height: 1.4;">I have also been in touch with Jon in Cardiff to get a full wrap done 'under the knife' as I want the warp to go around the edges as opposed to fillingt he major area and leaving some of the paint exposed around the edges etc.<br></span></blockquote>
<div><br></div><div>Well, she is with Jon now for full frontal kit and the rest of the car treated with Gyeon MOHS+</div><div><br></div><div>I picked up a bleeding stone chip the day before ... grr .. but hopefully the film will hide it.</div><div><br></div><div>If you are pootling around Bristol/Bromsgrove, feel free to see it when it returns after next week. </div>

Bluebird, reading on another forum I think you went for Suntec?<div><br></div><div>What's it like? I'm thinking of this as I hear it would be optically better for a deeper colour....</div><div><br></div><div>I'm still looking at getting the edges wrapped as well for ultimate protection as I don't see myself getting rid of the F...famous last words ;-)</div>

Hi Tel,<div><br></div><div>At the time I wanted Suntec but could not find a decent installer near enough so I actually had Xpel put on but was deeply disappointed by it. As a result, it is going in again on the 5th for Xpel to be removed and SunTec installed.</div><div><br></div><div>Many of the problems were down to, I think, a bad batch of film. Very strange marks that were not stretch or squeegee related. Jon might have to cover the cost of the replacement if Xpel will not live up to their installer guarantees and refund the cost. This was exactly the same problem I had with my old XK - the first bonnet install had to be ripped off and done again due to film issues. Very annoying. </div><div><br></div><div>SunTec is a lot smoother - slightly thinner but the surface film is much better. Chatted to the UK reps and they have produced a version that can full wrap a F Type bonnet. Previously, they only had a partial pattern available. </div><div><br></div><div>As soon as it is done, I'll post some pics (not that there is a lot to see!).</div>
