Afternoon all.

I'm sure i'm not the first to ask, but any recent workarounds on a blown DLR? Jag are still quoting £3100 for a single headlight unit as the only solution.

Thanks

When you say blown what do you mean? Is it just a reduced light level or no light at all?

It's down to a very dull level, maybe 10-15% of the driver side.

There was a very handy megathread on the forum regarding the DRL issue, but for some reason the admins have locked it off.

Last I recall, Tim from Sports & Touring was working with a supplier(?) that made an uprated part for the DRL that was more heat resistant but I'm not sure how far that has come.

Yeah it's a shame that other thread is no longer available just because some numpty got aggressive and started posting nonsense in it.

Anyways the solution that Tim has been working on seems to be available now. Don't know about the UK market but there's a repair shop in Germany that provides a fix/replacement service using the new part. I'll probably pay them a visit once the fix is a bit more tried and tested.

Check out Tim's FB page about this issue for more info. https://www.facebook.com/groups/861160799193193/

The DRL work is continuing but given the very low rate of failures of the offside lights, there is no proposal to manufacture replacement parts for them, only the near-side. We have obtained a very few perfect offside units and I'll DM the OP about them. I'll update the Facebook group shortly, we are very close to having the solution fully in hand but we're not quite ready to start taking bookings.

Thanks for the update Tim. Looking forward to more info. Again, kudos for all the work on this solution.

Apologies it’s the near side. I think I was still slightly in shock after speaking to the Jaguar parts department and finding out the dodgy running light is over 3000.

Since we have members for whom the position of the steering wheel is a movable feast, it's helpful to say "left" or "right" (with respect to sitting in the car looking forwards) rather than driver or passenger side, and apparently Americans have no idea what "nearside" and "offside" mean (the latter since they don't understand football).

Surely their goal tenders know their lefts from their rights :D
