Observations from a new owner

Thanks. And is as simple as just pulling the fuse and putting it back when you want it to work again? Where do I locate the fuse box etc?

Welcome to the f type club!
If you want more of the earlier cars sound these make good quality systems https://quicksilverexhausts.store/collections/jaguar-f-type
Definitely worth investigation if it's just the sound that's disappointing you.
I would say having been lucky enough to have had good German stuff (m3 c63) it's the all round package that makes the f type special and I'm sure once you get the proper sounds the smiles will last!! :P

I should think the problem with 'attention' is probably the same with all similar cars to the F type. It seems to be VW group cars (particularly Seat and Passats!!!) and older BMW's that want to race! Whereas I've never found this from Porsches, Astons and the like. Maybe it's 'small car syndrome', which is a bit like 'small dog syndrome'' in that they always want to pick a fight

For me an F type is bought for it's looks more than the performance (or I'd have gone for a Nissan GTR). I doubt a hot hatch would get non car buffs coming over just to tell you it's beautiful when parking.

So it’s the fuse box in the passenger compartment? Fuse 15. Take it out and it shouldn’t throw a warning light or anything?

No, it's under the bonnet on the left side, you can find the exact location in the manual for the MY20. Fuse 15 is correct though, just pull it carefully with a pincer and keep it so you can put it back when needed.

I pulled the vacuum tubes off the exhaust valves on the rear silencer, pop your head under, it's super quick to do.

Hi. Can you be more detailed in the procedure, or even post up some how to for idiots pictures. :)

Re pulling fuse 15 - Does this effectively just save you having to put the car into Dynamic mode and leave the exhaust open all the time? Or is there still a difference between dynamic mode being on and off even with fuse 15 pulled?

As others have mentioned, my understanding is that the valves never fully open below 3500RPM when you press the active exhaust button.

What I've noticed :

- Louder cold starts
- Louder at low revs (below 3500RPM)
- More frequent popping when lifting off between 2000RPM and 4000RPM
- Can't really hear any difference above 4000RPM
- Seems to "Snort" less on upshift at red-line (i might be imagining this one though)

On the actual buttons and modes:

- No issue with "limp home mode" after removing fuse 15 (i removed it while the car was off)
- When I press the active exhaust button (in normal mode) I get 5 flashes of the light and then it goes back off - 0 change to sound as expected
- When I select R-Dynamic - inside the cabin seems to still get slightly louder at idle - no idea why this is if pulling the fuse keeps valves open 100% of the time. I don't know if the outside gets louder because I have no friends to sit in the car while I stand behind it

I bought new and took the flak from the V6/V8 crowd for buying a misarable P300.. But I was very happy with the car then, andI still am. :D

Not only from the smile I have every time I look at it, but also when I slide into the 'glove' like fit I have set up now in the car. It is not a daily driver, I use it mostly for fun. A trip to go for lunch, a holiday with wife or son, or a quick run through Germany. :P

I had an -over aged- guy review it on his blog, and he mentioned all these - non relevant - comparisons to hatchbacks, like a Golf or BMW,
but I couldn't care less. He described the car as 'eye-porn' and indeed it is : beyond beauty and far from ordinary.. ;)

When I wind through bends in the Eifel or Ardennes, speed through a mountain pass in sports mode, changing down with the flippers...
... I couldn't care less about the opinion of an elderly boy-racer... ..I LOVE it ! 8-)

And when I sit next to my son when he cruises along, whistling a song and enjoying the car, we BOTH love it..

For me its like my horse [RIP], which was a bit odd proportioned [ short leggs for a horse..], as long as I love it and enjoy my time with it,

Enjoy Dan, the P300 is a stunning car to drive!

Although having had the wettest February on record, and probably the muddiest i've ever seen my Evoque, i'm beginning to forget... so very much looking forward to a dry spell and getting back on the open road!

I didn't drive too much also lately... ... breaking in the new F-Pace as well, only did 1400km's in two months..
