No Hotspot ! F-Type brochure only says "4G".

In the Netherlands the F-Type comes with a full infotainment system which costs a bundle in all other models.
I wanted a car with a hotspot as I can link the car to my WiFi then, and who ever comes with me has much
better reception with the outside antenna then a mobile would ever have.

In the F-Type brochure only "4G" is mentioned. For specifics the websites forward you to a general page
about the 'in control touch pro' infotainment. There it doesn't mention that the F-Type has NO HOTSPOT.
Also the brochure that comes with the car on the 'in control touch pro' speaks of the hotspot, and does
not mention the F-Type does not have it...

I have the car since early april. It took me about a month to get the 4G connection to work, different story.
Now I can get into the 'connectivity' part, it turns out that there is NO HOTSPOT !

Now JLR says it is NOT POSSIBLE to retro-activate it. But in the F-Pace [ I found out later],
the Hotspot falls under 'connectivity' and is an option.

So I think its just a FIRMWARE change and all the hardware is there already. But JLR says it cant.

Now all the F-Type brochures say is that it has '4G' . For details on the infotainment system you are
linked through to general sites about 'IN CONTROL'.

It DOES NOT say anywhere that the F-Type HAS NO HOTSPOT...

I seriously think of returning the car and go to another make all together, unless I can get this
hotspot working.

Does anybody on the forum has insight in this 'in control touch pro' technology ?

Hello

True .. F type has no hot spot, due to fact only a 2 seater perhaps Jaguar did not see the need to bother with the option

but should have offered as a cost option if customers wanted it ? who knows :?:

I stuck my own in. One of these that I run through the business (and use it out of the car for other stuff) https://shop.ee.co.uk/dongles/pay-monthly-mobile-broadband/4gee-wifi-mini/details#

Hello .. thats a good idea

and you use in the wifi box on batteries or the USB for power ?

I doubt you could return it on the basis it doesnt have something it was never intended to have. Hardly a big problem really. It's a car, not an office.

For the F type and in any other car I've previously owned I've just opened up the personal hotspot on my iPhone. No extra charges as it uses the massive data allowance in the phone package

For my new Evoque I'm just about to try the wonderful world of 'in control touch pro'... Not sure how this will go

I normally plug it into the 12v with a usb dongle. I can daisychain power from it.

I don't use it in the car a lot as I have a large allowance on my phone.

My MY2018 V8R has a hot spot according to the connectivity menu. I have the Meridian Surrround system

Could you put a photo of that in the forum please, preferably recognisable as F-Type inerior ? :P

I'm not using it. Its for the co-driver, so my wife or the junior with be isn't bored to death looking out of the window..
Now I run a full subscription for the satnav as in the Netherlands operators are twarts. The prepaid data don't work
in a car. Sombody suggested I'd buy a "3" prepaid, but they won't allow abroad permanently..

@Lunar.
What's the joke ? The name of the company making the hydaulic valve controls for the engenium engines is a company named UnIAir...
Almost the same as Fiat invented and used in the 1.4T engines : MultiAir...

Just seen this message. I’m on holiday at the moment without the car, I have a photo, but it is just the screen, plus I don’t know how to post a photo.

One way to post a picture on here is to open up a reply and add your normal text (if any).
Under the main reply box click on "attachments" then "add files" underneath.
This should take you to the storage on your device where you can select a photo and open it.
This should then show as being uploaded.
Once uploaded, place the cursor in the reply where you want the photo and click on "place inline".
You can check it's all ok by pressing "preview" before "submit".
