New style coolant pipes

Hi,

Looking at upgrading to a newer f type, does anyone know what year they changed the coolant pipes to the new style type,
Currently got a V6 S 2016 with old type, looking at a V8 R 2020 model,
Can I assume the 2020 will have the new type pipes

Thanks

Simon

I think they were changed around MY18/19. There are after-market aluminium versions available, too, the US forum has several threads about them.

Hi,
Yeah I’ve read about the after market ally ones, just didn’t want to buy a new f type still with the old style pipes, my18/my19 being what year??

MY18 started around March 2017, MY19 a year later. Not sure of the exact date the updated pipes were fitted, sorry.

Ah yep, I guess the only way to be sure is to go have a look at the car, trouble it’s 4 hours away, maybe I’ll ask the salesman to have a look

Whether this helps or not I am unsure..... but from looking at the parts catalogue for random v6 and a random v8 models from 2016 to 2021, all the coolant related pipes either say.

Up to car 22184
From car 22185 to car 40346
And from car 40347

(Car number being the last 5 digits of the VIN).

So I am presuming there has been three revisions and the latest ones should be on cars 40347 and later.

For reference my car is 503XX and is MY18 made late March 2017 and I have seen some MY18 cars from late 2016 so this would suggest the latest version of the coolant pipes were first installed on late MY17 cars and onwards.
(MY being model number and not reg).

Hope that helps!

A 2020 car will definitely have the new pipes. If needed it's easy to see under the bonnet so you could always ask the dealer to take a picture although it won't be needed for such a new car.

When it comes to the introduction of the newer revisions of the pipes... my late MY18 (MY18.5?) car is 549XX and still has the older flat edged pipes so I thought that the latest pipes were only fitted some time as of MY19.

Which pipe are we specifically on about and I'll double check again.

I think simpleR is correct. There have been two upgrades from the original OEM coolant pipes. Believe the latest is moulded, omitting the seam weld that can fail.

Cannot work out which part that is from the picture...

Which one is it?

The one you can see in the pics in the other thread doesn't go under the supercharger. I think it's number 10. In the photos you can see that the older version has a flat edge on the sides.

I'm at a loss with this one. Both v6 and v8 from MY16 to MY21 all lists the same diagrams with the same information as I previously posted.

The only one that is different is the 2L engine which is a straight pipe across the top from car 49804 and onwards (which would tie perfectly into MY18 cut over and it says it fits all F-Types after selected but is only listed under 2L engine models).

Hi,

Doesn’t answer your question but I understand the newer aka stronger y-pipes can be fitted to earlier cars. I spoke with my local Jag specialist and he confirmed this so I will have them replaced (along with a load of other bits whilst the S/C is off) later this year.

Thanks

I have a 2019 F Type R with VIN number ending 62637. I have checked the coolent pipe after removing the plastic engine cover. I can confirm that it was the revised design. I hope I can help by confirming that at least from VIN numbers ending with 62637, the revised design pipes were installed. Cheers.
