Hi all. I am new to the forum having recently bought my dream car! It's a 2018 V6 380 R dynamic and came with just about every extra and options in the book! I am absolutely delighted with it and still can't believe it's mine sometimes when I look at it! We took it on a two week road trip round Spain (where the pic was taken) and wow, it loved those Spanish roads! Only problem is back here in rural Oxfordshire the roads are a disgrace. For that reason I'm wondering if swapping out the 20" alloys for 19s might give a more comfortable ride? I'm prepared to sacrifice a bit of grip for a less fidgety and bumpy ride. Anyone here done the same and found an improvement in the ride quality?
Would appreciate your wisdom!

Looks like a lovely example, congrats on the purchase!

I don't find the ride too bad on 20" here in Shropshire (we have our share of terrible road surfaces), but as it's only a weekend car for me I don't mind too much.

Nice looking motor 8-)

As for the ride, I'm on 20" rims and have the suspension set to normal rather than dynamic otherwise my eyes tend to rattle about, and check your tyre pressures to ensure they're correct. Personally I prefer a firmer ride as the car feels more stable

Based on the assorted width/profiles depending on market:

20" have a sidewall of 89.0-92.75mm
19" have a sidewall of 96.25-98.0mm

So you'd have around 7.0mm of extra compliance which isn't much in the grand scheme of things given the outlay on rims and tyres

Soon after I bought my car I thought about doing the same, but my research at the time led me to believe that it wouldn't make that much difference. Like Kev, I always have my suspension set to normal and, four years on, have got used to the firm ride (apart from the occasional wince when hitting one of our many potholes).

You think oxfordshire was bad, try coming to herefordshire.
I was initially looking for an F-type with 18" wheels but could not find any with the options I wanted so ended up with 19" wheels, It's not great driving on crappy roads, I still avoid them.
I use a old volvo for making local journeys in our 3rd world brexit paradise. I only use the F-type for long distance journeys, mainly to the eurotunnel terminal, like you said the roads in europe are a dream to drive on.

The change certainly isn’t worth it. Virtually no difference in the compliance of the overall suspension, considerable cost outlay and of course diminishes the look of the car.

I’d look to swap out the tyre to Michelin 4s when due as they are way better than the pZero. Many here have changed and no regrets.
As a footnote if you really want to make the change get a set with all season or winter tyres. At least you can swap out when the weather, potholes etc. are at their worst.

If you have the large brakes there's a limit to how small you can go with the wheels.

Agree with the switch from PZeros to PS4S - made a massive difference to ride quality on mine, on 20 inch rims.

Really appreciate all the responses guys. I was not aware of the tyre issues and options and will definitely swap over the Michelins when I come to changing. I also love my bikes and funnily enough always prefer the ride quality that you get with Michelins!

Car looks great, and nice backdrop too. where in Spain did you go?

The backdrop is the Mallos de Riglos which is near Huesca, northern Spain. Drove from Santander across to Alcossebre (Med coast) and bit of a detour on the way back! Epic roads and terrific scenery! Brittany ferries come highly recommended too!
