Hi guys,

Having had my F Type R convertible for nigh on 3 years I think it’s about time I joined the community. I’m based in South Cheshire and I’ve seen a few F Types around here. So far, touch wood, it has been trouble free and very enjoyable. My car is a 2017 facelift R AWD in ultra blue with carbon SVR type rear spoiler, carbon fibre sills, side vents, bonnet vents and interior facings. The rubber bushes have been upgraded to poly which has sharpened up the handling. She’s running a Viezu top pulley and software, 200 cell Wagner sports cats, and Mina Gallery intake lowers. She’s just been on the rollers and turned out figures of 618bhp and 550lbs/ft. Consequently, she’s loud at the front, loud at the back and pretty quick in between. The only other upgrades are likely to be an Apple CarPlay module, and when Paramount has sorted out the FlexRay software, their gearbox upgrade. I’ve also fitted the one touch hood control which makes life a lot easier. So, all in all, I really enjoy driving her as she should be driven although the magistrates have, recently, somewhat curtailed my exuberance this side of the channel. :)

Welcome. An Interesting brief journey of your updates so far.
Best get some pictures posted else you're not real :)
Hope not too many points from the magistrates...

I'll post some piccys tomorrow, but the MagistrateS thing might be of interest to you guys. Btw, I am real, as my neighbours can confirm! :D

Paramount Flexray? Tell me more! What’s that all about.

I’ve got the same blue R to you bar a coupe!

Where abouts are you? I’m in Holmes Chapel a few times visiting family, would be good to grab a beer?!

Flex Ray is the operating system introduced (by Jaguar) with the 2017 face-lifts. Apparently, it's an anti-tamper software designed to keep modifiers out. Fyi, I'm in Nantwich and a beer sounds good, just follow the noise! :D

What will the gearbox mods do though?

Apparently, the torque limiter in each gear is increased, which allows more power to get to the wheels, and the change times are reduced. Paramount reckons that on a standard car, the software alone reduces 0-60 by 0.2 of a second. They also reckon that the terminal velocity of a standing quarter is increased by 8mph.

Wow! Sounds interesting! Lot more load/wear on the gearbox though?
Are you worried about the rear diff? Apparently it’s a weak part of the car, running more power and quicker jolts of gearshifts through it etc!

I bet she whines like a ......!

That's respectable figures considering drivetrain loss, especially AWD - Which Dyno setup?

I fancy the Mina pipes just to compliment my washable air filter setup. Did you Mina pipes or already fitted?
What air filters are you running on the Mina pipes?

Always the trade off. As you ramp up hp and torque then try to make it available quicker to the wheels, the multiplication of stress on downstream parts is huge. Usually there are limitations set by manufacturers which you can push out somewhat, but thereafter trade off is lifetime and reliability.
You see manufactures do lots tricks to reduce these forces. Good example on the old Z4 was a clutch release damper to slow the rate you could feed it in at and so to protect the gearbox and diff.

Have you got it Timbo?
Id like a little more power (don’t need it!) I think I’ll just get the VAP remap (approx 600bhp out of engine then?)

Gearbox one is interesting, sure it’s not as snappy as a dual clutch box but the shifts are fine and quick enough when you’re moving along! I love the crack you get from the exhaust too. Not felt the need to make the shifts any quicker myself.

Not really, if it goes, it goes. I use my cars the way I like to use them and worry later. The gearbox shouldn't be a problem, the rear diff will look after itself.
