Hi everyone,

I just picked up a new red P-450 convertible from Beadles in Kent . Great service from Paul in sales.

I’m confused by some aspects of the technical infotainment system.

1. There is a button on the steering wheel it looks like a person and I presume it to be for voice activation. But when I press it, nothing happens. Can I activate my mobile and other aspects of the the system by voice because I’ve not figured out how to do it?

2. The car has sign recognition which appears on the dash. According to the online manual I should be able to get the steering wheel to vibrate if I exceed the speed limit. There’s also graphics on the dash a road that’s grey. According to what I’ve read it suppose to change colour if I exceed the speed limit but it doesn’t.

3. The car came loaded with a sim card for general use. I want to use my own sim card as the one already fitted is very expensive to update. Does anyone have any ideas if it’s a matter of just replacing it. How do I check how much is left?

4. I have the Jaguar remote app on my iPhone. Has anyone figured out how to get Guardian setting to send an audio alert to their phone ?

Welcome to the club! (We'll need pictures, of course!)

I'm not familiar with the latest version but you should have a look at the Vehicle Settings menu where you may be able to activate the things you think appear not to be working as you'd like.

Regarding point 3 - not sure how you can check how much is left, but any decent SIM can be used - I have a GiffGaff SIM in mine and it works fine, others use EE.

Might be worth confirming to all, or add a signature, your model year (MY) as systems have changed several times however as it's a P450 it will be newer than but I'm sure someone will be along soon with answers.

Point 3, the SIM, I use a Three SIM on their 3-2-1 deal which works well.
 
Congrats on the purchase. The road like dashes are almost certainly your lane keep assist - the dashes will turn green when over a certain speed and the level of assistance can be changed in the central instrument cluster using the steering wheel buttons on the left hand side. You can also toggle LKA on and off with a button to the lower right of the steering wheel near the luggage compartment release. I turn mine off when on the twisties.

I’m not sure about speed limit vibrations sorry.

This only works if you are using Android Auto or Apple Carplay. I too was utterly dumbfounded when I pressed the button, expecting it to recognise my voice for voice-dialling, only to have nothing happen.
 
Android Auto works fine, but once it's taken over the display I can't see any way of getting back to car controls (e.g. climate) without unplugging the phone. Any tips?

Open your app drawer to see all apps available (bottom right on your screen that toggles between side-by-side apps or app drawer) - top left app should just say Jaguar, and this takes you back to the standard infotainment.
