What a stunning route. Ashamed to say that I never had heard of the NC500, I have just put it on my bucket list.

you should, its awesome, not all single track but if you go early or late in the summer, you get it to yourself, no camper vans or convoys, was the best trip ever

The roads look fantastic. Are you able to get a signal on mobile phones on those roads, if not do you carry a spare wheel? Strange questions I know but just wondering as most of us don't carry a spare wheel and the roads don't look very busy.

Beautiful roads - and the tarmac looks brand new in some places! How narrow is it - it looks like it could be interesting if you meet something coming the other way!

there is phone signal round most of it, to be honest I never really thought of that but its not as deserted as you'd think, i.e. if you had an issue someone would be along at some point. some of the tarmac is brand new, some of it is normal roads and some of it is narrow but there are passing places everywhere, you can't really got fast where you can't see beyond the next passing place but its a great drive. you do get bin lorries barrelling down the other way at times and the odd cow on the road but as long as you are sensible its a great drive. probably not in the height of summer as i'm told it gets full of camper vans
