Hi All,

Having recently purchased a 2015 F-Type R, I have it booked in with the local independent for full fluids change and service. Having looked at my brake discs ahead of this, they aren't looking too bad but are definitely down a good few mm so this got me shopping around for replacements. Stock discs look a little underwhelming and having read the weight saving of 2 part disc to stock, I started shopping around to see what was available. I ended up speaking to MTec after using their disc previously. They already provide F-Type steel disc's but I noticed they also did custom 2 part disc. After enquiring about costs and availability they came back with some very compelling pricing and approximate weight savings.

The Rotor's and Bells are coming in at £500 a pair.
Future replacement rotors only would be around £250 a pair, so comparable to replacement OEM discs but with the weight saving from the bells.

The approximate weight saving was really interesting. For comparison example they currently have Nissan GTR 380mm 2 piece discs at 10kg in weight compared to standard discs which would be upwards of 20kg. So a potentially very tidy weight saving.

The only issue is they need a minimum initial order of 4 pairs. Although I probably don't need these right now, I would be happy to purchase them now as part of a group buy if we can get another three of us to order these.

Anyone interested ?

Hi,
I would also be interested in the weight saving. If it's a good saving I might be tempted.

Also, is it OK just to change the front discs and pads or would it interfere with the ABS software. I ask as I'm currently changing pads and have opted for EBC Yellowstuff. EBC recommended I also change the rear if I'm changing the fronts otherwise a greater friction on the front with less on the rear could throw out the ABS software. Not sure if this is a line as ABS runs of wheel speed sensors but I know Jaguar have a lot of other parameters being measured (front wheel angle etc) in conjunction with the wheel sensors so didn't want to take the chance.

Should be fitted tomorrow so I'll let everyone know what I think when bedded in.

Surely the recommendation to replace front and rear pads is so you don't have different compounds front and rear. This will maintain the cars intended brake balance and should help avoid excessive wear to one set of pads
